garetheves
Got the new album the other day and when i started listening to it i thought id gone back to mid 80's and was listening to Metallica. Cant believe how much it sounds like Master of Puppets. Very different from their first 2 albums but awesome none the less. Can recommend it (Have a link somewhere for yousendit.com if anyone wants a "backup" copy)
michael
I have all the earlier albums and thought the same as you when I heard the current singe, it's pure old school rock, a bit of Metallica, a drop of Two Minutes to Midnight and various others odds and sods - catchy though

They have few of the other songs off the new album on their My Space. "Entrance of the conflagration" being an example.
Ark
Ascendancy is great, but I'm more into Bullet For My Valentine at the moment - it's all of the same vein though.

jimwire
The Metallica thing is what I thought of when I heard the new one. Also like it and will be going to manc with the other half.
michael
You still buy music CD's???? I always buy music CDs, download the odd rarity that I can't buy or sample things early but in the end I usually end up purchasing. The ability to 'try before you buy' means I now spend more on CDs than ever.
Thorin
I get tons on DVD's and lend them to other people to listen to. ...not had any new stuff for a while though. Will have a look out for the new Trivium one, thought the last one was "ok" but only had a brief listen to.

Animal
Trivium are bloody good - the drummer is very much like me in terms of playing style (but better) using generic rock beats with brutal twin bass chops. I want us to play Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation, but we are lacking a second guitarist. Mnemic are another good, brutal metal band too. Ill make a guest appearance of guitar My brother plays very much like the drummer from Trivium as well. Went to watch him in his first gig the other night at 52 Degrees in Preston. he set the record for the biggest drum kit they have ever had on stage. hes got a twin bass Tama kit. It has 4 medium Toms, 1 floor, and around 7 different Cymbols. Nice piece of kit but cost him a fair whack. I do like Bullet for my Valentine a lot at the moment, and in Flames. Got the 2 most recent albums and must admit i cant stop listening to them. The new Evanescence one aint bad either.

michael
I enjoy these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFG1rADuwY8 For some truly oldschool stuff give Dragonforce a listen, lighthearted stuff but very 80's spandex, Herman Li knows how to strum.
