Todd
no way they went bust not long ago apparently!!! i wouldent leave mine there!! dastek is ok for a good service frendly too:) CRD still there, they did an exhaust for my wifes car a couple of weeks back. Nice job on the car but the most miserable gits I have ever come across. Used tdrs Dad in the past and very happy with the work he did, have a search, his details are here in a few posts. Gruggs
Try KR tuning in hamilton or Performancetek in Clyde Business Estate. Defo stay away from CRD and i wouldnt use dastek either. Just my personal opinion though. G

martin_a
Depends what you want doing. Service stuff Logan's Garage in Leith have been ok for me. They do all the imports for a local company so know what they are looking at. The Garage is supposed to be great if you want really technical stuff doing but they are pricy if it is easy stuff that any garage could do. As mentioned already Brian's (TDR) dad does servicing work and is dead nice. m.
supraman.chris
Thanks Martin, do you have a contact #/email address for Logan's Garage by any chance? I'll do a search for Brian's dad to.
Getrag
I've used both The Garage in Wishaw and Ian Stewart, as above and extremely happy with both. And I disagree with The Garage being pricey. They have a much lower hourly rate than a lot of the other specialists.
martin_a
Hmmm not my experience of the garage. £80 an hour i thought at least sure Mark put something on FTO board about it. Ian Stewart - £30 an hour so for basic mechanics or even swapping a cambelt i know i'd save £50 However you need a car fettled and properly tuned or a good engine build i'd go see Mark because he does know his stuff. Nothing against them but they obviously can't adjust labour prices to how technical the job is as they'd have made the money by taking another car in. Contacts for Logans' http://www.logansgarage.co.uk Also run by a bloke called Mark. Bloke who does all my Dad's work is another Mark perhaps someone should do a study of mechanics names... m. Getrag
Dont count Ian Stewart out for big tuning too. Just ask Brian about his car and his brothers 450bhp Celica which they mapped with PowerFC. Plus he replaced my clutch and flywheel no bother.
martin_a
Good to know He's only worked on the Mrs Mini so far but the Supra will be going along at some point i'd have thought. In fact the mini needs to go back - the fan's cream crackered. m.
Getrag
I'd double check that Garage hourly rate btw, its around the low 40's.
supraman.chris
I confirm that Mark only ever charged me £40 an hour.

Had work done by tRD's dad ( Ian Stewart ) work was done to a high standard, rates per hour are really good & is a top guy JDM UK Address - Near West Calder, Livingston Tel. no - 07801-56-8458 Contact - Ian Stewart or PM tDR Cheers, Dek
martin_a
Hmmm everyone else seems to have got a good deal out of the garage apart from me then. I know i asked about adjusting the tappets on the FTO, three places quoted me £70 for a two hour job. The Garage quoted me double that. As i said i have never ever seen a bad review on the place but i just the impression they were just very specialised. Happy to be wrong but i can only comment on my own experience. m. Omlaysause
CRD Crap? I had a load of work done by them about a month ago. They fixed my broken caliper got it machined by a local engineers firm rather than buying a new caliper. Fixed and replaced rotten parts of my exhaust rather than simply quoting me for a replacement system and gave the car a complete service, plugs etc. I was extremely happy with the work and the cost. Guest sunnyG83
well i went to see the guys at Logans Garage and they seemed like a bunch of twats 1. they said that my service would take a day and a half to do (this is without the cambelt being changed as i already had this done last service). 2. the guy at the reception who i spoke to on the friday and who also booked me in for the tuesday said "we dont have a booking for you today' but we will fit you in anyway 3. Then i asked him for a price and he said he was not sure so started to ask me if it was was normal spark plugs or iradium ones and what oil does my car take. Then he said that the oil and spark plugs were gonna be a couple of hundred (i almost laughed at him) and that would be semi-synthetic not fully. 4. the price was not given to me and i was told that the price would be given to me once the work was complete (at this point i told the guy to stop wasting my time and walked out) So i dont think i will be using them again in a hurry V6 or TT ha ha ha ha ha
scotspower
I've been using Hypertec at: Unit 13 Bonnybridge Industrial Estate Murmin Road Bonnybridge FK4 2BW Tele: 01234 812212 Guy who owns and works there previously worked for Toyota. He won the Toyota Mechanic of the uk award before starting up own his own, was recomended buy a guy i know who works for Toyota parts. To date i cannot fault his work not sure of his rate per hour but a full service costs me £64 in labour and £75 quid in parts. He aslo charged £160 labour to change both front disc's, rear discs, all pads, braided hoses and fluid refill. He also drives a celica running some form of supercharger - he cant see past toyota.
