Supragal
Ok so got an interview lined up, it will either be a phone interview today or tomorrow or in person early next week... thing is the last interview I had was 2001 so now I'm scared, what kind of questions are they likely to ask and what answers do they want to hear? Especially those BS "where do you see yourself in X years?" etc ones Help!!!
Pig
Good luck! Dont really know, but dont forget to ask questions. App. thats important!
Nick
Is it a contract or perm job? Interviews for contracts are easy, at the most you just tell them what you've done. You can probably find the standard HR questions and answers on the internet. Good luck !
Pete
Can you make a decent cuppa? What's your bra size? Will you put out for promotion?
mikeyb10supra
definatly research about the company....thats always usually an opener in all the ones ive had they normally say something like "so tell me what you know about us" try and think of real life examples of things you have done which link in well with the job spec as well....and above all, the most important thing to remember, smile a lot and be cheery and be yourself....you wont go far wrong, they say a persons mind is made up within the first 5mins of meeting you
Supragal
It's a permy role (woohoo) The other thing is, I've applied for 32 jobs and out of those there is 1 that is my ideal but I won't even hear if I've got an interview until mid next week so what if I get this job before I even hear about an interview for the one I really want?? how_supra
Just be yourself as well Rosie. Alot of jobs are won on the basis of personality and honesty. If you are applying for something you are qualified to do and have had experience in, then you shouldn't have any problem answering their questions. R3DG3CKO ROB
One question I've been asked a few times is the old 'what would you say your main weaknesses are?' question... try and think of something you could improve and turn it into a positive. If you're genuinly interested in the job, that will come acccross in the interview. 32 Jobs! thats a lot to apply for... what do you do? mikeyb10supra
One question I've been asked a few times is the old 'what would you say your main weaknesses are?' question... Good tip....I try to do this as well
Supragal
LOL theres ooooo much I could improve on. I've been very open about that with the agencies but whether it's been passed on I don't know, I suppose thats kinda whats worrying me as if they ask my techy stuff about that exact area I'm stuffed! Agencies are saying that they are desperate for the skills I have and the companies are willing to train me on the bits I'm missing. I hope it's not lies! I work in IT, specialising in IP telephony, cisco call manager support with a bit of ARC IPCC etc thrown in. But I've done desktop so a lot of jobs are for that as a back up. Also done loads of other stuff. project work and account management, amougst others so I'm hoping having a varied background might help me. hmm. Some of those 32 are direct applications to companies, ie CV dropping rather than in response to direct advert.
