Thorin
I dont like the Windows firewall and have disabled it Why? It's very good, and I'd choose it over any other software firewall.
edd_t
i would have thought that a firewall is one thing you really dont want to get a free version of! just get a cheap one like e-trust and sit back in the comfort that ya safe whilst P2P all ya p0rn! haha

carl0s
I agree whole-heatedly with Michael & Thorin. You don't need any other firewall.
DamanC
And to add, there is nothing wrong with the Microsoft one If you really dont like it then, zone alarm is ok.
montezumola
The latest version of ZoneAlarm rocks Much more than just a firewall, comes with its own anti-spyware sniffer, and will actually tell you which programs try to stick themselves in Windows startup .... Quicktime & Real Player beware!

Clarkey
Exceptions I thought that was for adding applications installed on your XP for outgoing traffic. I want to configure my laptop (Windows XP) - to accept incoming traffic from another PC running Linux. Both the XP & Linux machines are on my wireless LAN. Konrad
Just a quick question - why you use firewall on your computer, when you can use with same sucess rate one on your router? This one on router should be even more effective actually, as it is outside LAN.

Angarak
People think XP firewall is poor because it only filters INCOMING traffic, not OUTGOING. Search for "XP Firewall" on this page: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/XPMyths.html
