Guest Russ
Hi All I have had a search through the forum but dont see an answer to my particular question about the rear wiper. Off I went down to Halfords at lunctime to pick up a new blade. Buy it, get it out to the car and none of the adaptors in the box fit into my rear wiper arm? Am I being really stupid or is this something Toyota did to keep customers coming to them for replacements? Any ideas? Thanks Russ
mawby
Got mine from Halfords. Fitted with no problems. Item number 701136 according to the receipt.
Guest Russ
Halfords or Bosch ones Lee? P.s. You dont know anyone local who wants to buy my Supra do you ?
mawby
They were Halfords own brand. If you got the Bosch ones then that might be the problem. I used to use Bosch (use PIAA ones now) but we tried fitting some to my gf's MR2 and they just wouldn't fit. Bosch no longer supply most of the fitting adapters like they used to. Anyway, took them back and got Halfords ones and they fit no problem. You might have the same problem.
Guest Russ
Mmmm now im confused, the ones I tried were Halfords ones?? Perhaps Ill pay the £1.50 fitting charge next time!!!
Rob
£1.50???!!! Used to do it for free when I worked for "the big H", mind you, it helped if you were an attractive lady.
michael
I got the Bosch from Halfords, none of the adapters were a perfect replacement for the one on the car but one was very close - I fitted mine last June and it's still there It judders a bit on the downstroke though.... my previous Toyota one did too, I guess this is normal? I don't mind a cheaper blade on the back (cheaper than Toyota anyway) but I prefer to spend money on the front ones, I feel it's important to see where I'm going
Paul
I've gone back to Bosch after trying a set of Halfrauds own, they were crap Mate of mine had the same experience too, so it's not a one off. Paul
Timwildman
How much do the halfrods/bosch cost? I think a proper toyota one costs 4quid ish, but just the rubber, the arm/holder stays the same, and you keep the spoiler bit on the drivers side. michael
I seem to recall the Toyota one being over a tenner and the Bosch about £7 or so - I bought the fronts from Toyota and took offence at the price of the rear, if it had been £4 I would have had one. Timwildman
I dont think I would have paid a tenner for mine, I only got 1 for the drivers wiper, as they changed the other 2 at a service, (I was not happy about that) at the cost of £15 with fitting. michael
The front wipers cost an arm and a leg - about £40 a pair
Timwildman
we are talking about the same thing, you can just change the rubber not the arm/ holder. OK got the invoice, £4.07 + Vat = £4.78. C1101 wiper rubber T85214-40080
michael
Oh yeah Toyota just do the rubbers - I bought whole units because the ones on the car were manky when I bought it - it'll be replacement rubbers from now on
