Vaughany
I have just removed my front bumper to fit some mesh to the Bumper etc. Unfortunately a friend of mine removed the Active Spoiler and I just want to confirm that I put it back on correctly. I would be grateful if anyone can confirm that the method below is correct. * The fixing brackets for the spoiler fit to the underside of the car with the hinged side going against the fitting. * The active spoiler then fits against these barackets, the bolt then goes through the spoiler into the bracket and then into the underneath of the car. The reason why i think this is not right as I can now see a bit of the brackets when looking at the front of the car (spoiler being down) I was unsure if the fixing brackets go in the lip of the spoiler and then attach to the car going through the bracket first, then the spoiler, then into the car. This way the fixing bracket is hidden as it sits behind the top lip of the spoiler. Unfortunately I cant remember exactly how it came off so advice is needed. On a separate note when i fitted the mesh to the opening of the front spoiler that leads to the SMIC, I have noticed that I now cant gain access to the indicator if I need to change the bulb. Should I of removed the the black shroud that sits in the front of th intercooler or do I just cut the top of the shroud away to create an opening leading to the indicator. Thanks, The problem is when doing anything for the first time you have to learn as you go and often have to learn the hardway. I am hoping that I hav'ent screwed upo to bad as I dont fancy having to take the front bumper off again to rectify the problems if I have one. matt
Don't quite understand what you're saying about the spoiler mountings!......... Its hard to get wrong if the same person has removed/re-fitted....... Re the indicators, simply remove the headlamp to change the indicator bulb (3 bolts)........ but if they are the orig orange blobs ... they should be ditched ASAP! Buy the later side/ind units available from the usual suspects ...... or move them to the orig side/fog position .... more flow to the SMIC!!! Vaughany
Matt Unfortunately I did'nt remove the Active Spoiler and the person who did has gone away and cant be reached. I will try and explain the problem again. The active spoiler is attached to the car by 3 brackets that follow the shape of the bumper. However I am unsure if these brackets attach to the car first and then the spoiler to these or if the spoiler is attached directly to the car first and these brackets sit behind the lip of the spoiler so the bolts go through the brackets then the spoiler or if it is through the spoiler first then the brackets. With regards to th indicators, yes at the moment I have the original orange ones but these will go shortly, who provides these, my car is a 1994 J-Spec. Anyway when you remove the headlamp on the drivers side, you cannot gain access to the indicator itself as it is enclosed in a black shroud that is attached to the intercooler that directs cold air i Suppose. Before I put the mesh in to change the bulbs I would of took the indicator off by going through the ducting at he front I think. Is this right or wrong? Should I remove the original black plastic ducting that is attached to the SMIC and what the bumper (Indicator ducting) fits into. matt
Whatever ya do ........ do not remove the ducting to the SMIC!! As I remember ...... the lower panel can be removed after disconnecting the arms that connect to the active spoiler ( on the under tray.) The plastic bit that the 2x middle points attach to the active 'bar' The points that hook up to the bumper corners stay in place regardless off the front undertray... Hope that makes sense......... If not PM
