Does A 93 Supra Need An Emissions Mot Test?

My supra failed an Mot test yesterday on the emissions being to high. I was told today that a 93 supra shouldnt be put through an emissions test but 94 onwards do.

So that means a 93 supra with both cats removed will pass an MOT?

I rang the guy at the MOT garage and he said all cars from 93 (k reg) get emission tested.

Does anyone know anymore about this, as i need to try and get an MOT by sorted tomrw.

Mine just failed. the guy said one minute the co% was ok for a pass but started to creep up for a fail. I thought he was a bit of a jobs worthey as it was just over.

Talked to Mark at Phoenix and he said a 93 supra shouldnt get emission tested only 94 onwards. He said a 93 decated supra should have no probs passing an MOT, as he gets them Mot'd all the time with no problems.

Is this wrote down all official anywhere so i can take it to my next MOT. Then ill 100% go decat its the only thing that puts me off is having to pop it back on for every MOT

Well from what Mark was saying its written in the MOT test pages mate so as far as im concerned im taking his word for it, he works on quite a few of the guys cars on here so he got plenty of experience with supras.

I agree with you i trust what he says. It would just be good to have it in my hands so when the mot guy starts to stick a probe up my poor soops ass i can flick out a piece of paper (in a TV cop style) and tell him to stop lol;)

  • 2 weeks later...

no it will get a emissions test no matter what year it is it just has diffrent scale to perform too

post 1993 is a full cat test with the c.o level to be under .50co2

pre1993 is a basic idle test with the level to be under 3.50co2

there are also lambda and hydrocarbon tests to be carried out on the later model cars which are also a mot failure

if the tester is fooled into thinking its pre 1993 you will get away with no cats atall hence G10ECK lol

only if that piticular garage hasnt gone digital yet even when they do youre car prob wont be on the database as its very early on and the system isnt the best (keeps going down)

look at the printout you got with youre failure slip and see what it has failed on and if they havent given you one there at fault and will have to provide one.

by the way there is no more 2 week test period now either once you have left the garage with youre car it will be a full retest (and they can fail it on other items previousley missd)

i hope this has helpd as am shit at typing and its took agae lol
