dannyspeed
The MOT was overdue for the supra, so braught it to a local MOT station. I vowed after last year i would'nt go back there as they failed me last year over a little bracket that was on the bottem of the windscreen that holds my snooper. I mean How jobs worthey is that! But as i was desparate so i took it back. The car failed on emissions test. I asked the bloke was it much over, and he said just slightly over. Is there anyway i can get the Emissions down without a tune up, Like change to v power rather then tesco 99? . Ive got a jap tt with Blitz nur spec and 1 cat removed. merckx
Personally I would fit both cats to be sure. New air filter? Oxygen sensor?
Guru
Attach first cat or find a more 'friendly' MOT station.....where abouts are you?
Scooby
Rookie, You need a friendly MOT inspector, where about are you?
RICHARDA
I have an MOT test station where I work, try and get as much heat into the Cat as possible so the cat is 'lit'. Take a hard drive before hand or get the tester to hold the revs of the car before the emmissions test to give you the best chance of passing. dannyspeed
Just heard this today that if you have a 1993 supra an emissions test shouldnt be carried out, only models 1994 onwards. But rang the guy at the Mot garage and he said its from 1993 onwards. Anyone know any more about this?
gledo1970
All cars have to have an emission test of a type.. pre 93 cars limits are a lot higher..no cat @ co 3.5% max..cars from 93 to 96 have an emission test but not full cat test..96 on have a full cat test as well..hc lower than 200ppm and co under 1.2% .. I will have a look at the paperwork tomorrow..
Nic
When did you last change your oxygen sensor on your car? The failed emmisions test is most likely due to a worn out O2 sensor making the car run rich.
