Ric
Hi guys i know which oil to use and i have the stuff coming butt.... SimonB
Battery out, unbolt power steering reservoir and move out the way a bit, reach through with your arm from the front. Put a plastic bag around the old filter before unscrewing it and it will drop into the bag and not get oil everywhere.
hodge
I jacked the front of the car up and put my arm straight up and grabbed it no problems at all no need to take the battery out. But your right about the plastic bag. I wish I hav thought of it I got oil everywhere in my nice new clean shinny garage floor.
Pete
Bag is a fine tip! Don't do what I did, unscrew it like on the NA, then realise unlike the NA there's no space to pull it up through. DOH! Holding a slippy hot oil filter with arms scraping on everything desperately trying not to drop it is not fun. Eventually I squeezed it out, but had to loosen some loom. flukey-lukey
I unbolted the power steering resovoir and shoved my skinny arms down that way It was bloody tight too!
Lez
Get your self a long reach 'Oil Filter Strap Wrench' (google it) OR make one yourself, I did (can't show you it though due to patent pending...........lol) its a stick with a bit of rubber matting stappled on it. Worked for me. OK you will spill some oil but no need to get under the car or remove anything. I'm talking TT engine.
merckx
I never have to move anything! Am I more skilled than you lot or is my filter in a different location? I don't have a remote location kit fitted!
RedM
My mechanic can get to it from above without removing a thing. Same from below. Which is why I use him.
JohnA
Yeah, it's a pain in the ass, but doable from the top without removing anything.
Mike M
Yeah, same here didn't need to move anything as it squeezes through the gap towards the battery but not the other gap nearest the dip stick like I thought it would. That bag trick is a great idea, I spent alot of time trying to mop up the oil from the engine mount and cross member.

SimonB
You don't HAVE to remove anything, I just found it a bit easier if you move the battery and it only takes a minute to do.

Ric
well it took me around 2 hrs to remove the oil fiter and two trips to halfords (only open store) around my area some cunt must have put the filter on with a air tool it was SOLID. The first tool i bought was too large and the 2nd was just a poorly thought halfords tool and was seriously pissing me off almost to the point of smashing the car up. But whooosaaaa..... i got it off, then to top off my night the bestest..... i kicked over the oil tub.... Used Oil, everwhere.
Mike M
Sometimes it all conspires against us. Still at least you'll know it will come the next time no probs. I almost resorted to stabbing a screwdriver through mine it was that tight but it gave in thankfully.

Scooter
WHere about is the oil filter (looking from above the engine bay)... also underneath... where roughly is the sump plug?... Yes.... I am a simpleton!! From the battery (bottom right) go up to the power steering reservoir (silver cylinder black plastic top) and then look down into the space between this and the engine block (view from the wing rather than the front bumper) and you should see it fine.... Sump plug can be seen, by looking under the car by the drivers side front wheel. It is a 14mm bolt back from the plastic engine undertray and is angled slightly toward you ie the bolt head is not parallel to the ground
