Seb
I'm assuming that this is due to the way in which the boost controller I have was set up by whoever fitted it, but basically I've noticed that in order to get boost response from the turbos, varying amounts of throttle are required in different gears. For example, in 1st, I would have to apply maybe 80% throttle in order to get strong positive boost, whereas in 5th or 6th gear, 15-20% throttle will have the first turbo on full boost, even at low speed. Does this sound right and can i have these responses set-up differently using the boost controller ie use the speed map settings on my as yet unfitted power meter to have full boost on even small throttle openings? Cheers guys Seb
SimonB
The amount of boost you get depends on the amount of exhaust gas and hence engine load. So in 1st the engine isn't as loaded at partial throttle as in higher gears, so you don't get as much boost. Nothing to do with the boost controller. (AFAIK!) Seb
That makes sense, I've just never driven or been in anyone elses car, so I didn't know if this was just mine that behaves like this. Thanks Seb
Branners
thats why the speed map based boost controllers are good, they can manage the boost in any gear without getting serious spikes at high speeds. JB
