RedM
The venue: 5th circle of Hell AKA Tingley roundabout nr. Morley, W. Yorkshire. So, I'm sat at the head of the queue heading for Wakefield. Next to me is a small lorry obscuring my view to the right and therefore the traffic coming around the RA. The lights go green and I allow for the stragglers but as I can't see that the RA is clear (because of the lorry) I decide not to go until he does. He waits a few seconds, there is the sound of horns a-blowing from behind and he goes to move forward. I gently move with him. Then he jams on the brakes and I panic and follow suit. Fucking luckily as it happens. Right across our fronts comes a pertol tanker and it ain't hanging about. There is the sound of screeching brakes to my left as oil tanker c*nt has screamed across a lane of traffic heading onto the M62. He had obviously made no attempt at all to slow for the lights. Luckily no-one got hurt but no thanks at all to his driving. All I could think of for the rest of the journey was that, if I had pulled out on green as I could/should have done, that lorry would have hit me side on and I would probably be dead now. My initial thought was to chase him down and beat the living shit out of him. So much so that I'd already indicated left to follow him before I fully realised what I was doing. As it turns out a twat in an Audi TT who had been behind me had gotten impatient (despite the danger of death) and was trying to undertake me. Yet another routine journey home. Elliot
I can't stand people running red lights, whether they're in lorries, cars, bikes or whatever. There's no need for it. Then again, sounds like he wasn't concentrating, as if he was going at some speed he wouldn't have been able to stop anyway in time for the lights. It wasn't until I started riding that I realised how bad it is. Makes me feel sick thinking about the amount of times I've filtered to the front of the lights on my motorbike, gone to pull away on green, and had to stop myself getting killed while some arsehole is too important to wait at red coming the other direction. You should have got his plate. Normally there are numbers on the back of the truck to phone to complain about the driver. Glad you made it! Thorin
I hate people who run red lights, bus drivers do it all the time. They deserve to die, but not kill all the people they are carrying.
Kip
In answer to your question, usually it's speed and what is known as - "oh shit I was just on the phone and I did'nt see the traffic lights were there" - how many lorry drivers do you see with a mobile phone welded to their ear?. Don't get me started on lorry drivers - There are very few "knights of the road" left - more like a holes of the road, what is it with the, "I have size and weight on my side now fcuk off out of my way I'm coming through" attitude. As you may tell, I have very little respect for the "modern" lorry driver. No offence is meant to those drivers who have consideration for other road users. michael
I see it on that roundabout every day - if there was ever somewhere that needed red light cameras it's there. Huge amounts of money to be made by catching these dangerous scumbags.
