markymark
Been there done that this year - it ain't nice Rosie so I know what you're going through. Trust me though - getting made redundant was the best thing that happened to me. I love my new job & I DON'T look back. Good luck with the search! Ark
Well that was a shock. Apparently no reflection on me. So, anyone know of any IT/Telecoms jobs going in Hampshire?? What are your skills? Cisco? Solaris? Know any Sendmail, SQL or Perl?
Wez
Sorry to hear this, something better will come up, as already said get your CV up on all the job sites. Is Bracknell too far? Pete
Look on the bright side... you can get totally wasted tonight and have a lay in tomorrow. It's a horrible thing to happen, but something will come along soon I'm sure.
stevie_b
Sorry to hear that. This happened to my g/f a couple of weeks ago. Turned up Monday morning, "sorry, you're a good person but we don't have a job for you anymore. Bye." Like Ark said, what are your skills? Any languages like C++, C#? Where abouts in Hants are you thinking of, or not fussed at this stage?
Supragal
Thanks for all the kind words guys, no Bracknell and Hook aren't too far at all. Basically I got a meeting invite at 3pm for 3.30 with no warning no comments, nothing so I kinda knew then. It sort of clicked as my boss had been really weird all day, hardly said a word, normally asks what I've got on etc always queries my timesheet but didn't today and just wasn't at his desk at all. Team meeting he didn't even look at me so I knew something was up. Just suprised because there were far more likely candidates to go really unless you look at it from a pay perpective, which I suspect is what has happened as AFAIK I'm the highest paid contractor in the team. Oh well, it's a contract, this is what happens. Problem with it is they make you feel like a permy and my 4 years there is nothing compared to some. They are being nice about it though, 2 weeks notice whereas they only need to give me 1, they are also waiving the fact I took more holiday then I had accrued and they are also paying me on 2 weeks after I go so I've got 4 weeks to find something. I've actually been looking at starting my own business but I'm just not sure theres enough money in it. Co-incidentally I updated my CV last week haha. Skills, Cisco IP telephony mostly, arc, IPCC, Softex call loggers, BT bits n bobs, I do a lot of the documentation required by the FDA- SOPs IVIs OSIs and so on. I'd happily make a career change if I could get enough to pay the mortgage doing whatever it is!! It's also time I went permy I think.
