Wanted: 1994 or later MR2 Turbo - Salvage

Can anyone give me a rough idea how much I should be looking to fork out for a MR2 turbo ('94 or newer) with the 3SGTE CT20 turbo motor with say a front end smash or other damage not affecting the rear suspension/subframe/brakes/gearbox/engine/driveshafts/hubs etc. Car would ideally need to be a runner with low mileage.

I would also probably be after the front subframe, suspension and brakes as well but will probably have to buy this seperately. I can't imagine finding one car with none of these items damaged!

Basically I'm looking to transplant the running gear (or at least the rear setup) into another car and am trying to get an idea of cost.

Cheers

Dan

The only benefit from a later 3S-GE would be if you went for the 'Beams' version, the others give the same performance despite the power figures being different.

Personally I'd buy a Camry and steal the V6, with breathing enhancements it's a lovely lump.

Is a Rev 3plus still the SW20 shape - we're not talking about the modern MR2 here are we? I'm thinking of this type (albeit a 1994 or later one):

Maybe the cost is another factor to steer me towards an NA transplant - that would still net me a manageable 165bhp with a few minor tweaks (enough for 550kg of car).

Off to research what the Beams version is...

Yup thats the one in the link,

Rev 3 is the SW20 with round rear lights (Facelift) and one piece spoiler, 174BHP as compared to 154BHP which the rev 2 and rev 1 Na generate.

With the turbo variation, the rev 3 plus came with the CT20B turbo (would hold boost to redline appose to the CT26 (Rev 1+2) which soon drops off after 5.6k RPM, also the Rev 3 ditched the MAF sensors and went for the MAP based to measure airflow, thus

the Rev 3 plus were more powerful, better on fuel and better tunability appose to the previous generations.

How do i know? I had both of them when i was 20:D!

Hell no, it's no replacement for a 2JZ but it's a great cheap alternative for the MR2.

This might be of interest:

And this one is lovely, looks like it came out of the factory with this engine:

I see your point,

So how about dropping in a generation 2 3SGTE engine into a supe?
