Tom
So Saturday at Redline, morning is all fine, it's quiet for about an hour so I asked my boss if I could take out the project RX7 as I was thinking of buying one, he said "yep just take it easy" I was probably out for about 10 mins just getting the car warmed up properly before putting the foot to the floor but I didn't even get the chance, I came up to a roundabout and pulled over to the right lane and BOOM! engine cut out and I rolled nicely in to the middle of the rounabout around 5pm Nice! it was a pretty loud bang but It kinda sounded like a hose that had popped off, popped the bonnet, all pipes are fine, shit bet I've blown a tip on one of the rotary's! Got my phone ready to call my boss but no credit, great! stuck in the middle of the road, can't move the car as it's uphill, no credit and after 10 mins no one had stopped to help, eventually 4 people stopped at once(quite suprised!) we moved the car to a safe area and a guy lent me his phone, called the boss and he towed me back, understanderbly pissed off, I couldn't believe how bad my luck was! Well before it went bang it was definately the best car I've driven, steering feel, driving postion is awesome and it feels fast! but after a little think I decided that I'd buy it off him and have my own project car(all the mechanics at redline have their own and I really wanted one myself), this way I can do the rebuild myself (something I really I wanted to do even before it went pop) so I now have a RX7 lol! He's allowed me to have an area the back of the workshop and I can have as much time on it as I want! he's totally cool about it! Here's a pic So all within an hour it went from really bad to really awesome!

osso
I've always been tempted to get myself an Rx7! You seem to find alot of people selling their rx7 straight after an engine rebuild, which is kinda off putting. What's the curb weight of these things? Bobbeh
Type X? Not heard of those. All I'm aware of is the early RX7s didnt come in the more powerful 280bhp guise, but were around 240-250? Good thing about them is, if they do go bang, they're easy to work on

fat_controller
i love these cars but have always been put off by reliabilty. are they really that bad?
Bobbeh
Ohh yeah Cheers Tom. Sunroof and rear seats... my brothers was losing out are they really that bad? They're not too bad, but you cant compare them to a Supra. I think its usually expected to have a rebuild every 70k miles or so.. but they're much simpler to repair than a typical piston engine. Tom
Ohh yeah Cheers Tom. Sunroof and rear seats... my brothers was losing out Yeah the rear's will probably go in favour of a roll cage and front bucket seats, I'll probably strip the whole thing out! Fat-controller, I guess I'll soon find out, it's like most things though, one person says something then everyone believes what they've been told even if they havent experienced it first hand, the sequential system is a complete maze of hoses and actuators but fitting a single makes things much simpler, much like the supe, but if treated well it should be fine
