Supragal
The more I think about this, the more I come to the conclusion that althought the vast majority of the time the oweners or the situation can be blamed, but I do think that sometimes you do get a 'bad egg' BTW dogs can and (usually) do say "go away" it's just that they do it in dog language and people don't know how to interpret it. Some things that have been said are very silly but I suspect just said in heat of the moment perhaps. Don't be silly they won't ban people keeping dogs. Bob
Pneumoni, no offence but I think you should refrain from posting anymore of your views regarding dogs, as to anyone who owns them and / or knows them, you are coming across as an uninformed extremist. Personally, I love Staffies and would have one tomorrow if either myself or my wife were at home more. Instead I have to settle for playing with the neighbours' staffy, Harly. She's easily one of the most affectionate dogs I've ever met, but is so protective of the kids she tries to follow them to school in the mornings! supraaaaaaaaaa
A supra won't attack anyone on its own violition...... no but it is more dangerous than a 1.0 fiesta, maybe if its controlled well its fine, but it is more dangerous !! supraaaaaaaaaa
just incase anyone wanted to know the most likely dog to bite a human is a collie, and they bite the heels as they are rounding them up like sheep they are a classic example imo of a breed that is not good to keep, due to the high intelegence and need to use it
supraaaaaaaaaa
oh and keeping these dogs will never be banned as the will have a riot on there hands if they think they can tell people to put down there dogs !!

Kittyclaws
dogs get in bad moods like any animal, the exception being a dog cant say go away,. no-one should be alllowed to have an animal like that as a pet., ive heard it all before." he wouldnt hurt a fly" "he`s harmless" blah blah,. fact is its dangerous and stupid to have any animal that size in a home as a pet. guard dogs are a diff thing - however they should be 110% away from the population and in a secure enviroment. but as far as pets go - they shouldnt be allowed,. im absolutely certain if it was legal to have a fully grown lion as a pet in a home - someone would,.and they would even take it for walkies in the street. There are other breed of dogs that attack too you know, but you won't hear of them because the media only choose the ones that will look good in the news etc. And how you can say it is Dangerous and stupid to own a big dog. i could write more about this, but that statement has made me so f#cking angry
Kittyclaws
is it ?, see how you feel if your babies face was chewed off - idiot. i react with abuse if im insulted - read back a bit - drivel ? ref the two above posts. His response of drivel was to your post, how do you reply???, by a personal insult by calling him an idiot You would still have to blame the owner as it would be one of one Million dogs from that particular breed. I think that if you have no experience of owning a Staffy, Rottweiller, Akita, GSD etc, then you shouldn't comment as it will just enfuriate owners that you believe them all to be "The Devil". Good post look Gazboy, everything you typed above in defence of such dogs confirms my beliefe that you are probably the banjo player from the Deliverence. - because its such crap, i stand by everything i said, and i do actualy like dogs - but do you have to be so insultive calling me ignorant all the time, thats why i called you an idiot - you called me ignorant and said what i said was drivel - just because i have a different belief than you. everything you said in defence of having a mike tyson type dog is flawed, and seems to me your clutching at straws desperate in these dogs defense - the comparison to cars is totaly hilarious - and if your intelligence wont allow you to see why then thats a pity,. and incredibly weve actualy heard from a high quality owner who owned a rare but nonethelss aggressive dog - he had it trained in every manner available - yet he felt incomfortable with it around his baby,. the fact is man your wrong and i think deep down inside you know it. thats my belief and you wont change that. youll see that im right by the end of the year when owning such dogs are banned - theyll be banned for the safety of the general public. but dont call me ignorant - im actualy very intelligent. thats all i have to say on the subject. Yet again another personal attack. What are you on??? I'm sorry but you are not intelligent, you are very narrow minded.

I f you were thinking of a cat, I think a female will be best with a dog, as they tend to show who's boss, and if you were to get a Tortie,,, well, put this way, if a tortie was human, they would be locked up under the mental health act lol, very loving tho, ours is, and she has many dog traits too which is spooky at times

Bullshit. Don't hide behind your keyboard like some old lady denouncing speed "because you heard it on the news". Pick apart my post- counter argue, assuming you can, or are you just going to sit there and call names? Your getting upset that I called you ignorant but you aren't exactly disproving my theory are you? PROVE ME WRONG! Where are the flaws in my argument? This coming from the guy who thought a Pomeranian is safer around kids ffs! Did you know statisticaly PER DOG you are most likely to be bitten by a Labrador? I didn't hear you calling for Retrievers to be banned last week when a 7 year old lad was savaged by one. I feel deeply sorry for Muffleman- but you've found one person's experiance to support your argument, despite every other dog owner in this thread to say it's unusual- hell at least Muffleman did all he could and and was a responsible owner. The comparison to cars is an easy analogy- maybe because you can't grasp it shows more about you than it does about me? Everyone else could follow the argument and think on multiple planes. I bet you campaign to ban SUV's too. Why is your insurance higher for your SZ than for a Ford Puma? Because it's a higher risk. You'll be proved right when they are banned- fuck me- it's illegal to do over 70mph on a three lane motorway on June 21st at 5am and I bet you ignore that law because you think it's a crock of shit through and through. Gazboy
I think they will actually mate. It'll be another complete farce and won't actually deal with the real fucking problem- staffy's and Rotties are toast. Whjat they need to do is bring back dog licences and increase the tarrif on dog theft to 10 years & £10,000 fine- otherwise chavscum will just pinch your dog because he can't buy his own. Gazboy
They still need to adress the issue of theft first- 56% of all stolen dogs are staffy's- Rotties next at 8%- the remainder is mainly show dogs for ransom.
Thorin
It doesn't matter whether you live in a studio flat or not, there's still enough room for a dane. Or are people suggesting you should have a house big enough to exercise your dog indoors? and no we don't live in a studio flat.
Bobbeh
Difficult one this, I can understand dogs that were bread for fighting or known to be particularly dangerous due to their power and likeliness of violence being banned but I dunno about the rest. Or are people suggesting you should have a house big enough to exercise your dog indoors? and no we don't live in a studio flat. Absolutely. The size of your house doesn't come into it to a certain extent (obviously there are extremes) as, like Thorin says no-one exercises their dog in their house or even their garden for that matter! You could have a mansion but still keep the dog in the kitchen. I wouldn't recommend having any dog in a flat (especially an upstairs maisonette) simply because of the hassle of house training and the stairs. And, not only that but dogs don't sit tehre thinking "hmm I wish I had a bigger house/'garden" like people do. They just know waht they know. Bob
I think all owners should need to apply for a license and the issueing of said license should be dependent on the results from IQ and Common Sense tests; thus ensuring that particularly stupid people can't own, look after, nor care for dogs. Problem solved. I should be a politician.
