Actually ANY dog with all it's teeth can give you a bloody nasty bite- a Pom with it's teeth embedded in your windpipe/jugular/carotid will have you ina world of trouble, although yes, a bite from a rottie/APBT or any self respecting dog can inflict far more damage than a jumped up furball, that's not in dispute. What is in despute with you is that a child is far, far more likely to be bitten in the first place by the Pom- that is fact. Analogy: There are 26 million cars in the UK, of which 800,000 are SUV's- the SUV will kill you, the cars won't, but the chances they will hit you are far higher should you run out into the road wearing a blindfold in each case. Would banning the SUV improve road safety for pedestrians jaywalking?

michael
Ahh this isn't even about dogs anymore It is, Pneurotic wants to be attacked by a selection of dogs to see which gives the worst wounds - I say it's really nice of him to offer his services to finally provide some evidence to back up his mutterings. Thorin
Pneurotic I see what you've done there If he were a dog I'd say he was suffering from separation anxiety.

supraaaaaaaaaa
id still rather be attacked by a pommie than a Rottie. but i suppose the point is its more likely to attack you than a rottie, and with kids around can do severe damage to them as well and scar them for life
dazla
i was watching fear factor on sky 1 last week. the contestants had to run across a room 3 times and each time they was attacked by a different dog. 1. German Shepard 2. staff 3 some cross between a bull mastiff and the devil. oh my god it was scary. one bloke got ragged around by his neck phew!!! horrible. still blame the owners though. they taught to do that. Gazboy
From CNN: Small dog kills 6-week-old girl in California October 9, 2000 Web posted at: 6:17 AM EDT (1017 GMT) LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A small Pomeranian dog killed a 6-week-old baby while the infant's caretaker briefly left the child unattended to warm a bottle of milk, authorities in Los Angeles said. The relative, who was caring for the infant girl, found her head buried in the dog's mouth Saturday night, sheriff's Deputy Cruz Solis said. The girl died of head trauma at an area hospital, he said. The baby's name was withheld because her parents were out of the country and had not been notified, Solis said. The relative has not been charged. Animal control officers took the dog. Pomeranians are a breed of miniature canines that have a foxlike face, pointy ears and long, fluffy hair. The deputy said Pomeranian attacks are rare. "Obviously it doesn't take much to kill a 6-week old baby but it's not something that happens with that breed," Solis said. ------------- You can shove that right up there.... Gazboy
What kind of mother would go abroad and leave their six week old baby with someone else? Might have a very good reason- if my FiL had a heart attack my SiL would certainly fly out to Italy to see him, leaving their baby with us. captainchaos
sorry but one of my friends has 2 rotties and they are the nicest most loving dogs, been around dogs for my entire life and in my honest opinion a dog is the same as a child, a child reflects on the up bringing of the parents as the dog reflects on the treatment by the owner

Thorin
What sort of idiot leaves a baby unattended? We don't know the circumstances. Would you take your kid to the toilet with you for example?
