Kopite
does anyone know how much these cost brand new when they were on sale in japan? just wondering why the j-specs didn't come with with toys and leather, was it to keep costs down or was there another reason? Whitesupraboy2
well i know the guy i bought my SZ off, bought it for 17,000 in 1997 for a 1996 model that will give you rough idea of second hand market value for a SZ

dangerous brain
Shittin ell I was robbed when I bought my SZ aero then. I paid 11.5k for it 3 years ago on a 93 plate!! So either the car itself didn't depreciatte much in the 6 years before I bought it or someone with some serious Bins saw me coming from a long way off!! Lewis
But the conversion rate wasnt the same then No way you can get a true figure unless you know the exchange rate at the exact time you are trying to work it out for.
dangerous brain
Hey that gets my vote!! Well the starting price is nothing in comparison to what I will have spent on the thing over the years I own it. Christ I think I have been through that much money in fuel lol! For 2001, the exchange rate was mainly in the 170s according to exchangerate.com If we take an arbitrary 172 as pretty representative, Dave's figures work out as: SZ £17,151 SZ-R £20,174 RZ-S Auto £21,220 RZ-S Man £22,558 RZ Manual (GZ, perhaps typo?) £26,046 A bit disappointing, somehow. Suprash
Errr, but I thought these things were like 40K brand new, so you saying that I could have bought a brand new RZ-S instead of buying one that was 3 years old, those prices seem very low.... Suprash
RZ-S Man £22,558 Well working on rough figures in my head, so they will be rough, this model would probably cost you around the £28K mark, by the time you have had it imported. Still cheap in my eyes when places like JIC were advertising 2000 models with whatever mileage on them for £24/25K, well worth finding the extra reddies to have a untouched, mileageless new one. Tannhauser
I had always thought that Supras were 40-42K new. Perhaps that was the UK version only - but that's a massive discrepancy.
Tannhauser
I just checked that article on this site comparing the Supra with the M3 and TVR. The on-road price is cited as being £43,023. Could there really be such a difference from the j-spec prices?
lovatt
dont forget cars are also alot cheaper outside rip off Britain ! still seems low to me though
