scooby_doo_do
As above - i have a rev counter on the Humber V8 i've bought, but the cable at the back has been cut. Any ideas where i should be looking to connect it up again? Also, what should a 3.5 rover SDI V8 lump rev too? Or be safe till? Thanks. Craig. jamesmark
A rover SDI should rev to around 5k over that there is not much point. My Sarah's grandfather knows the SDI engine like the back of his hand will try and find out more for you, he has built repaired and restored them for about 30 years i think. he loves rovers
jamesmark
I just called for you mate, 6k RPM is what the SDI engine redlines at.

Kranz
Yep, negative coil is right. And it'll rev beyond 6K if you let it & finally run out of puff at about 7K as the hydraulic lifters pump up and hold the valves open. I have a couple of these engines.... Ok I have 3! If you need any parts I have one in kit form. As always, for gratis.

scooby_doo_do
Yay - i'm really impressed with myself.. I managed to do it all on my own :-) and it works. This will make you laugh though - I was trying to figure out what cable to attatch it too so i thought the best thing to do was to start the engine and touch the wire on each cable till one worked. So i had decided it was best to place the cable in my mouth whilst i used both hands to start the car... Zap.. My bottom jaw now hurts ;-)
