looking to buy a plasma HD ready tv-help

Im looking into a new 37/42" plasma tv, HD ready.

I dont want to spend any more than £1500 so it on the more budget range of things.

Is there anyone here who knows a bit about the latest sets and which makes produce the best picture out at the moment.

It seems impossible to judge the pictures in the shops as they rarely have ideal setups.

I cant seem to find any decent web sites reviewing latest plasmas's etc.

Perhaps anyone here with there own experience has has just bought one could share there knowledge.

Cheers Carl

I was going to go for the 37" Panasonic, but in the end i changed my mind and went for the Sony Bravia 40" LCD, very good:) and if the offer is still on you can get £100 cash back if you go for Sky HD.

Oh and for good info etc try here http://www.avforums.com/

Cheers, Ill check that site out.

One of the sales reps was trying to sell me the Sony today. Trouble is you never know whether the set is genuinely good or whether its this months store push.

Picture did look good tho.

As a matter of interest, how do DVD's look on it. I will mainly be using it for this. Are they as good as a normal tv or better?

I'd never buy a tv i didnt see going along side a few others so richer sounds is a good bet.

I have a Hitachi plasma and i use a £200 scaler for it, pic is excellent, last price on it's updated model was about £1500 from Richer. All Hitachi's I think have been HD ready since beofre I got mine 3 years ago.

Of course if you are going to have a dvd player that upscales internally to 1080 and sky HD you'll not need the scaler.

I have yet to see any plasma I thought was very good without a scaler being used of some sort.

Use Component input, or if your system supports it hdmi etc. Never use composite, and rgb scart sucks too (and i thought it would be the best?).

All IMO of course.
