milocoon
I`ve got a TT Aerotop Auto (GZ spec), I`ve tried a few Insurance Companies as my renewal is due and have decided to go with A Plan as they were helpful, friendly and very reasonable. The Insurance Company they use is called Ensign BTW. Bell Direct will NOT insure an Aerotop as it`s not on their list of Imports, I tried explaining that apart from the roof panel and maybe a bit of chassis strengthening there was no difference, so anyone with an aerotop be careful as in the event of a claim and you had selected a TWIN TURBO AUTO (IMPORT) they would`nt pay out if you had a policy with them, attached is a picture of the models they insure. Lancaster say my car does not meet their insurance criteria. Sky and Tesco were fine but £170 and £350 more than A Plan charged me. Academy Insurance told me that the A Plan quote was excellent and they couldn`t get anywhere near them.

silvershark44
I hate car insurance companies, they never make any sense what so ever
Rayman
Ensign is who i am with, that is thru sky insurance!
milocoon
BASHTHEBISHOP yes Sky were OK but £170 dearer.
Rayman
I found A-plan good too, but if you go back to sky im pretty sure they will beat it but then again its the hassle of keep ringing up etc.
milocoon
A Plan use Ensign, my excess is a bit larger than Sky quoted.
Guest Maeglin
I had the same problem with elephant. Now insured with sky.
Ric
just watch the companys which are signing u up for a loan if you are paying your premium monthly, check my post in supra chat.
colsoop
I would be inclined to go with an insurer that listed my model of car specifically, you wouldn't want any issues if god forbid you had to claim.
milocoon
Colsoop is right about the exact description, I did the Bell Quote online and it was only when i queried the description by phone that I found out that I could have made a big mistake. Its worth being truthful about modifications as thats another way companies won`t pay a claim. Touch Wood I won`t need to claim.
Scooter
what annoys me is that we're meant to know what are mods and what aren't (ok we know but does the average Joe?) and yet they don't even know about all the different models and its their business ffs............ Jezz
I've always found aerotops to come up on the model list. Must just be the bigger companys that do it.
