He gets media coverage BECAUSE he's controversial - bound to cause a stir and therefore newsworthy. What we need to remember when looking at topics like this is that it is really a media-generated interest i.e. the media decide what we, the public, are interested in and they will hype it up as much as possible for viewing/reading figures. What's actually said is of little real value to them so long as it appears 'interesting'.

This is part of the reason why some 'celebrities' are always in the papers - very few people actually care what a certain 'star' has been up to but the media hype it up to try and gain our attention . Jade Goody's a prime example!!

Cool . I have looked at the Muslim faith and the fact is that if Muslims (real Muslims) practiced the faith correctly then there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

:respekt:

Yup, like all the other monolithic religions....if practiced in its true form without all the mumjo jumbo....then there wouldnt be any problems with anyone from another faith or no faith.

wkdtime, i think you worry far too much that when non muslims see people like this guy spouting off that they will tar all Muslims with the same brush. I think you need to give people more credit in general and relax a little as Charlotte, Michael etc etc all know that the locals popping down the Mosque on a sunday (no idea if this happens, is sunday an important day for muslims? probably not......i'm ignorant of such matters!) are no threat to us and are just following their own religious belief......

I think the problem lies in the profoundness of the faith. You for example seem very protective of your faith it undoubtably means alot to you, has affected how you were brought up, how you live your life now, and how you will encourage your family in the future to continue. You hate (understandably) to see your faith represented by certain people/organisations as a 'religion of hate or violence' From my brief experience of Muslim culture its a very involving religion and taken very seriously. As a muslim you are probably thinking "of course its taken seriously" but i say it in the context of comparing it to Christianity where i suspect the numbers who say they're Christians is way higher than the number who have done anything recognisably Christian in the last few years eg gone to church!

The amount of women who want to get married in a church that probably haven't been in one since they were a kid is high, 'we' (westerns?capitalists?) have much more of a "when it suits us" attitude to religion.

I think the seriousness and profoundness of faith is admirable, however it is at this level of faith that minds (of the young in particular) can be moulded to believe that any act is acceptable in the name of xyz. This is not the religions fault it is that of teachers of it. I do not believe that any religious text promotes, violence to others, it is evil individuals who exploit those with such faith.

In my day you would have had a job getting any teenager to hold a collection tin for their local church fundraiser, let alone hurting themselves or others for their religion. The more serious the religion the more you as an individual are, or feel you are, of less importance, and the more prone you are to individuals being coerced into stuff.

The whole idea of people being convinced that they are off to a better place shortly after ending their and a couple of other hundred random/innocent peoples lives is so inplausable to me. Didn't they ever go down the pub (ok unlikely but some gathering) and bounce the idea off a few mates that always seemed to give sound advice in the past? (ok this is tongue in cheek, but again i cannot see how these individuals did not 'see the bigger' picture)

They just must be brainwashed by their 'teachers' to trust them and have faith and this is where a overall more profound religion is dangerous, its not the religions fault per se but it is the tool by which this is able to be carried out..............

I don't know about anyone else, my day is so filled with doing stuff I absolutely have to do, followed by other stuff other people want me to do - then having to do some other stuff I really don't wanna do but have to, where the heck do people find time to have religious beliefs? ;) - I have enough imposed on me as it is. I was brought up through a church school which did nothing but turn me right off religion full stop. I like to do what I have to - carry on in my own way, be left alone mostly, and have good conversations and fun with friends... I try not to hate or dislike anything - takes too much feckin effort.

These mouthy bastards really piss me off; they want the world to be run their way with any descenters condemned as sub human. They use societies where relative freedom of speech exists, to espouse the virtues of a system where such out bursts as theirs would result in most certain death.

I think it is irrelevant which religion they hide behind, but they need a respectable name on which to hang their insane ideology. Religion has provided a platform for nutters for centuries.

As an athiest I find it fascinating to listen to these confused hypocrites who use 21centuary technology to seek to plunge the world in to a medieval feudal society.

When will our politicians stop fucking about and worrying about the human rights of these twisted fanatics and cut them out of society. What happened to treason? Having worked hard and paid in to our systems for the best part of 35 years, can I get anything out of it when I need it, hell no. I can’t because I have to jump through bloody hoops. I can not understand why we pay some of these guys to spend their time planning ways of killing us.

My comments are not directed at any specific religious groups, as truly religious people do not kill, torture and maim others. I have worked in Muslim communities and found 95% to be friendly people I would be happy to call friends. However the other 5% caused me great concern over 20 years ago. Unfortunately the Muslim extremists are making a lot of non Muslims very suspicious of genuine peaceful Muslims. This alienation is all part of their plan. These fanatics are a bigger threat to the world than global warming.

Seems like some muslim folks are constantly looking for an opportunity to be offended.

I think that this is actually quite profound and some young Muslims should stop and think about this...

Lets be honest - Unfortunately until people like this madman are cast out by 'their own' there will always be an underlying feeling that this is exactly what Muslims today DO think...

(in lieu of any real knowledge of what you are doing to condemn these people you understand!)

Sort yourselves out guys...!

Someone should just beat him to death! .

Totally agree with Kopite about beating him to death!

(Glad this has provoked a decent thread )

I personally think (all) Religion should be banned as it causes these crazy fcukers to brainwash the young and impressionable. I don't understand why people feel the need to think there's some all powerfull being you should give priase to. Quite frankly, it's an absurd idea.

To quote Abu Izzadick "wake up and smell the coffee" :D

I am heartened that the usual fools have not come along with ignorant views and spoiled this debate for everyone.

The media in general annoys me, i have no interest in celebrity lifestyles or any of that crap, and when they do this kind of thing, they are stirring a very big pot, with no idea (or maybe just no care) of the consequences.

i did research a bit of Christianity and Jewdism back at school.

I think it might possibly be Judaism

Once again it is the string vocal minority that have gained all the attention whilst the vast majority have to suffer. We as a nation have to suffer these fools, the fundamental extremeists whilst they hog all the limelight and skew everyones view on the topic.

It happens in any situation, he who shouts loudest gets heard!!
