And if only someone on the forum could provide members with these at a low, low price, if only they would step forward and let us know..... :innocent:

Good marketing ploy isn't it ?

Ok - I'll type it again:

Testing your your replacement SMIC's VS broken SMIC is going to give meaningless figures. I think we all know the M-GT ones give some good gains - tested against a BROKEN stocker.

So, do those results give you an inkling of exactly - what the IC is like - in comparison to another IC of similar condition ? In more blunt terms - what is a paying customer getting for their hard earned cash ?

Paul, I am confused why you are completely evading my point. - it is starting to lead me to believe that it's because it's easier to sell something when it the IC you're comparing against has a lower performance benchmark (IE a BROKEN STOCKER)

because nobody has a 100% mint original intercooler... as the poll already going suggests most are fudged.

The end of the day a M-GT one is going to perform better than any of the standard intercoolers on our cars unless you have a brand new or very good condition one in which case it's probably around the same.

But after that its personal choice, myself would prefer a aftermarket SMIC due to the excellent ducting already in place thanks to MR T

I quite agree - and I'm not suggesting you test with it either. I'm saying that Toyota SMIC of equal efficiency to the M-GT one should be tested.

That is a fair test.

Has anybody seen a the original dyno chart ? Were both dyno runs performed using same amount of boost ?

But if your testing a toyota intercooler which is of equal efficiancy then you shouldnt be really looking to spend your "hard earned" to change to a diffrent intercooler anyway should you?

If your intercooler is fudged then you look at replacing it, either front mount or Side mount in whichever case they are going to be better than your knackered one.

So i dont really see where the argurement is coming from?

im not looking to get into a full blown argurment so ill just add this.

But testing against a equal IC - would provide the customer with a benchmark. EG - what am I getting for my ££££ for a replacement IC ? How does it rate against an equal IC.

How is testing a new IC against a broken SMIC proving anything ? Is the data reliable ? The answer is No. You need both IC's to be of equal stature for any data, dyno charts for that matter to be reliable.

Just sad really - please stop now Christian you are really making yourself look quite hysterical m8 ;)

Please don't patronise me Paul. I can see you're like a dog with a bone - that has to have the last word.

If you can't accept simple logic - IE All things being equal when performing comparison tests - then who's the most foolish ?

Paul, Just like to say thanks for the engine tray mate. It arrived today. It did have a crack in it, about 6 inches long, but was all in all in very good condition. Taped and sealed it up so should be fine.

Oh and Clarkey mate, I agree about the tests, but let's be honest a stock SMIC is very hard to get hold of at times (Steve Manley is a busy man) and I'm sure Pauls is just as good, if not better.

Either way a replacement is a good idea don't you think buddy? ;)

Cheers,

Greg

How much does a new Toyota intecooler cost and how much does Pauls intercooler cost?? Im guessing there is a huge difference in price between the two and Pauls intercooler will be a very popular option for people who are not willing to pay the £1000 price tag of a Toyota one. I certainly know which one i would go for
