Thor Dyno - what exactly do you get?

In summary, an over inflated RWHP figure ;)

 

They're rather famous for it; Lui told me this week he had nearly 400 rwhp quoted on a stock turbo'd jspec from there.

 

Lol, good effort lui :) i know his is meant to be quick one, but le not be sill thor. Its a shame there isnt a way to have them all calibrated the same :(

what exactly are you doing mate, is it a just a power run ? or are you having the car set up, what i can say is Thor are decent chaps who wont try to sell you a new ecu for £1500 cos your AFR is 0.00001 out on the richter scale :p they just do exactly what it says on the tin, that is set cars up

In my opinion, don't ever bother mentioning the flywheel figure - just state your at wheels figure - after all, that's the one that counts, because that's the one pushing your car along.

 

Totally agree. RWHP is the actual measured figure. Any attempt to guestimate a flywheel figure is fairly pointless as it can only ever be a total guess at the best times. Unless you want to remove the engine. ;)

Yep agreed, best to stick to hub or wheel figures.

 

A good BPU on the Thor dyno wants to be making 360+ at the hubs. (something like 395-400bhp at the crank).

 

if its making 360 @ the hubs, how much would it loose (approx) @ the wheels.

No idea - you'd be comparing two different rolling roads then so no-one can say unless they've been on the hub dyno and the different rolling road with identical engine and conditions.

 

You'll get a higher reading at the Thor hub dyno than an "at the wheels" figure from most other places though....
