Jive
Only just heard about this this morning when my misses came in and said hamster had been critically injured and could be brain dead. Just watch GM:TV and also read the threads and it seems to sound like he's a bit better than what my misses said. Really hope he pulls through as he does seem a top and genuine bloke. Nick
He's now in a stable condition, so should be fine. I read on another forum that a tyre blew out, must have scared the cr*p out of him ! Jet cars are dangerous, but it makes for great viewing, comes with the job and these things can happen.
Soonto_HAS_soop
Hope the white toothed hamster makes it, I only tend to watch Top Gear for the interaction between him and Clarkers...

Kip
Just heard about the Hamsters accident, shocked to say the least, I do hope he will be ok, as already said, him and his interaction with Clarkson is one of the main reasons for watching T.G. Best wishes to him and his family.

KaoriFan
hope he is ok as well. was surprised to hear about this happening. definitely one of the nicer presenters on TV, along with James May. get well soon
Supragal
He's now in a stable condition, so should be fine. doesn't mean he will be ok though, just means he's less likely to die and that they are in control of his functions. martin_a
Aye i suspect he's got quite a lot of recovery to do. Car was upside down apparently although no one seems to know more than that. Anything else seems to be speculation. With two young kids though got to hope he's ok. All the best. m.

jim_supra
As others have said, I can't beleive what has happened, hopefully he'll be ok, and will go straight back to presenting Top Gear, it won't be the same show with someone else. Green Peace
I hope he makes it through, also hope he is not disabled as a result. Top Gear is one of my favourite programmes, I love the new format and Richard is a very prominant part of that success. I really hope and pray he pulls through and he makes it back in one piece to carry on presenting our favourite car show. I havent seen any news today but heard he was better. Supragal
Doctors confirmed that his wife was at his bedside and his family had requested that no further information be released. thats a shame
Alex
thats a shame Well it's none of our business really...in the grand scheme of things it's a private matter. I hope he not only pulls through but has no lasting side effects from it all. His on screen persona will be sorely missed if he doesn't come back. Marco
From the top gear website: ********* Jeremy arrives at Leeds Jeremy and James have arrived at Leeds General Infirmary to visit Richard and his family. Jeremy told TopGear.com: "Richard remains in intensive care. Obviously at this time both he and his family are the most important concerns we have. It must be devastating for his wife Mindy and his two utterly adorable children. "I would just like to say how heartened Richard will be when I tell him just how many motorists and truck drivers on my way here wound down their windows to say they were rooting for him. Both James and I are looking forward to getting our Hamster back." ******** Richard Hammond is 'improving' but remains seriously ill in hospital after a crash in a jet-powered car. The accident happened during filming for the new series of Top Gear at the former RAF airfield in Elvington, near York. Richard was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary's neurological unit. A hospital spokesman said this morning: "He has seen some improvement overnight, but remains in a serious but stable condition." Richard's wife Mindy and their daughters Willow and Isabella are at his bedside. We'll update you on his condition as we find out more, but for now our thoughts are with his family. Scoboblio
Does the fact that they're now referring to him as "seriously" rather than "critically" ill mean that his condition has been downgraded / upgraded / WTF?
ManwithSupra
downgraded but still not good
