Secuing name and web address for ltd company - how?

Ok fellas,

My brother and I are about to set up a small(ish) company (nothing to do with Supras) and are in the initial stages of planning, checking, researching etc.

We have an idea for a name and to the best of my knowledge it is not registered as a ltd company nor as a .co.uk If I search for it as a .com it comes up with a search page on a semi related topic and as a .net, it goes to a shoparound.com page.

Do you think that means only the .co.uk is free?

OK for someone who is not mega clued up on domanins etc how do I go about getting the web address?

Also does anyone know how much it costs to reserve the ltd company name or do I have to actually register the limited company to get the name. We're not quite ready to do that yet.

Thanks for any help

Dan

Lewis I sent you a pm about this a while ago but we never got anywhere ref. the web side of things. Can we kick something off again if I pm you the names of the sites I want to secure?

wkdboi2005, I had a look round your site but entering any names was met with a blank page. Any ideas?

Cheeers Colsoop - I had a good read over that stuff and it was very useful.

Hi mate, really? I don't recall I'm sorry I get loads about web stuff.

Could you send me a refresher PM with any related info and I will formulate a reply and get it together tomorrow for you?

Apologies if I dropped the ball on this one and you were waiting for me.

Lewis
