"The association said it wanted models to project "an image of beauty and health" and shun a gaunt, emaciated look at the show"

I can kind of see what they're saying there. Plus this is in Spain, I can't see it catching on in this country or America.

Models are that way for a reason, the designers can dress them for less money than someone who is larger, but bring back the supermodels of the 90s they were gorgeous and had lovely figures.

Has anyone seen any of those pro-ana sites? Scary stuff - made more scary in the fact that they use celebrities and models in their sites as if they are pro-ana too. Like this.

Hard one to call this one. I agree with if fatties were banned there would be such an uproar. The skinny model thing shouldn't as much be banned more less glamourised, it's not the models that are to blame its the magazines that are saying that thats the way women should look. Take Posh spice for instance, now i know that she isnt the best person to use in this argument at first but take a look how much press coverage the two of them get! One one hand you have got a washed out singer that tried so hard to go solo but flopped magnificantly, on the other hand you have got a footballer, always in the press for his footballing acheivments/transferes/england player, but then look at all the stuff that he advertises along with her. waffle waffle....... sorry, anyway back to the subject, in there latest advertising campaign the skinny posh that we all know (who takes care of her won publicity) has had her arse made bigger, even she can see that a bigger bum looks better.

I think its about time they did this move. These so called super models that are so skinny are so damn unattractive. They have the figures of 10 year old boys.... ie. no shape or anything (not intended to be a pervy comment, just a comparison effect).

And true enough if this is a health image move also then the grossly overweight models should also be banned.

the majority of models are tall birds to say the least along with having an ectomorphe body structure. ectormorphs can eat as much as they like and simply wont put on weight. the fact is that what ever happens there are gona be skinny girls and fat ones with nice ones thrown in between.

i tend to go for atleast a size 8-10. size 12,14 are just as hot

Why do you guys seem to think that if "fatties" were banned there would be uproar? They've simply said that anyone with a body mass index of below 18 or whatever it is, is not healthy. The same should apply to those that have a BMI of over 25 (I think that's the upper healthy limit isn't it?)

Just because size 16/14 is the average in the country right now, that doesn't mean it's necessarily healthy.

Personally I think it's a cock on idea. If young girls idolise these models, and want to be like them, then making these role models healthier, in my eyes, can only be a good thing.

Im not happy with that body mass index thingey, because that assumes that everyone has the same bone structure, but the fact is that if you have naturally smaller bones, and you are tall and naturally thin, then you're going to be under the 18 "susposed" healthy limit, which they keep blurting out.

Size doesn't matter (within reason) but being seriously underweight is just as ugly as being seriously overweight (IMHO)!

who would want to cuddle a bag of bones lol

imho sexy, real women have curves, that's part of being female. A super skinny no boobed model isn't far away from looking like a young bloke lol - blergh!

and also I agree, it's all about proportion also.

I'd say, unless you have an extreme problem, don't worry about it, you are who you are and people will either love it or hate it, the right ones will of course love it :)

much more important are things like personality and face etc...

and as for the models, not sure but if they ban one extreme I guess they have to ban the other - otherwise it's not fair
