KaoriFan
i suppose one thing that i do get annoyed at is the way 'brits/expats' abroad behave. seems they are happy enough to live in the middle east in times of peace and enjoy the benefits, good wages and climate. remember when the first Gulf War started how they wanted to come back to the UK immediately, and i think they were allocated a 747. my view is they took the choice to go there, put up with things as they left the country, and were not forced out. i am sure most on forum have seen the travel programs on TV where the presenter goes to a muslim country, or religious temple, yet when the british go in they wear shorts and t-shirts, which is actually offensive going into a place of worship. KaoriFan
Jesus how this thread has changed in such a short space of time, and having read (one two skip a few) again its the usual suspects that have brought the thread down. and it will be deja-vu all over again, next time, you can bet on that. jamesmark
I would like to quote this from someone who posted on the "have your say2 section on the BBC website, The first few sentances are just like what this thread has went................. Why should we but we have too!!!! So why do we have to tip toe all of the time and be afraid of every comment about the Muslim faith? We are a free thinking , free speech democracy and should not allow ourselves to be censored every time when it may upset the muslim world. Absolute double standards in my opinion, they (the Muslim world) find it acceptable to burn images of the Pope but any tiny little comment on their faith leads to fanatical violence. If you have faith in your belief you do not care what people think.
wkdtime
Listen guys, im gonna leave this as my last post in this thread, Just like many British muslims we have to live with the stigma that were terrorists, we suppress woman, we bring wars. I should invite you all to my house and show you what were really like. So tensions are very high in England and in the world as a whole, the terrorist have gotten what they wanted, they wanted there to be a rift between the west and Islam, they dont like the idea of Mulims living amongst Christians, Jews, and now they have gotten what they want. Why do people generalise us and look to the media for answers?

Darren-K
ok,i respect that wkdtime and you are right, but its some things that are constantly pushed in the unseen face of the west by the muslim face that i think affects the innocent., things like the belief in martadom . jagman
would a fundamentalist not blindly follow this whereas any "normal" follower would question and reason why this has been written. this is a problem with all religions , to question could lead to dispute and doubt and ultimately unbelieve and is not a feature that would perpetuate the religion - so the stock answer is that you do not question you have faith. sometimes with dire consequences as in jonestown. religion always has been about the control ,of a very large population of people , sometimes with limited education, and to be fair the lure of everlasting life is a biggie. Comments like "nuke them all" are based in group mentality and seldom thought out by the individual more a repeating of a comment made by others in the peer group Its more than coincidence that religious followers are commonly known as a "flock" and indeed follow-I bet CJ got all excited when I said flock:)

Bobbeh
Why do people generalise us and look to the media for answers? Because people are idiots and cant be bothered to research, travel or meet other people and experience their customs or beliefs.
SUPRASUZUKI
The powers that be should ban all religious reference from public places (including this place), 'cause I'm fookin sick of hearing about it. Religion is the single biggest cause of wars (oh, appart from oil.....)
