scooby_doo_do
Thanks Guys. Not got a garage :-) just a nice parking area at the rear of the house. There's quite a few more bits of the bodywork need doing, its just it got to the stage where we couldn't see what was good and what was bad. We can now see all the area's that need attention. Hopefully it'll be up and running on Monday - Although the electrician has been telling me that for 6 weeks. Le mans in 3.... Er... Ok. We'll still take her. scooby_doo_do
Thought i'd get some more pics up.. Had the front indicators moved, the wiring finished and the new plates on. I also spent the last 4 hours attempting to carpet the roof - which is in my own opinion a damn good job :-). Just waiting on a ballast resistor to turn up, the new tyres to be fitted to the front and she's down to the mot station to see if she fails on anything. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/10.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/11.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/12.jpg

DannyW
Wow looks great!! Is the carpet just acoustic carpet? or something more special? i'm asking as i might have to do a similar thing in my trans am.

scooby_doo_do
The carpet i bought from ebay - i paid £30 i think for 5 meter's of grey carpet - for car use or horse cart etc.. Seems to work quite well... I had the ballast resistor turn up today - but not wanting to blow anything up, i'm waiting for the auto electrician to turn up tommorrow and fit it and check everything's ok.. If all goes well then i'll take it for its first drive in 6 years :-) ... A very nervous steady one at that.. Here's some more carpeting from tonight i've just finished. - and before anyone comments, yes i know there is some rust in the pillar and the bottom of the door. Its due to go back to the welder's at some point to get fninshed off. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/interior1.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/interior2.jpg

scooby_doo_do
For anyone thats interested.. There's a vid i made tonight of me starting it, and trying to figure out what switches do what. Only downside is its 150mb. It moved for the first time in a few months so was quite chuffed. Engine seems to get quite hot, but ok on the gauge, seems to tickover nicely. The brakes are state of the art, in fact they are so good you need reactions like a cat and have to push the foot through the floor a mile before you want to stop. Apart from that, i'm quite scared of driving it up the road to the garage - 5 miles away. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/pics/rod2.avi
Homer
Great work mate She sounds a LOT more healthy than the first vid The interior work you've done makes a real difference. scooby_doo_do
yeah, she's a lot more healthy now she has the leads round the right way, new plugs, and exhausts on :-) Not decided on a colour yet, its either candy blue/green/orange or gun metal (freinds choice)

scooby_doo_do
Right, quick update on the car as there's not been one for a while. The steering column needed replacement as the steering wheel fell off. We purchased a pop off steering wheel and had that welded onto the column. The steering rack also needed replacement, but the one we purchased didn't fit, so we had to butcher it to make it fit. So now that is ok. Wiper's - we replaced the wiper internals with some from a robin reliant as they were the best fit. These now work but aren't exactly the fastest things in the world, so we may need to use something else, or a lot of RainX :-) Hopefully the car will be having it's MOT this week and we can start by stripping the car down to it's bare metal (as i've had a garage built now to put it in) The car IS going to Le Mans this year if i have to push it! Not much changed since the last photo's i'm affraid.. I'll get some more when we get it back from the garage, with the new bits on. Hopefully getting back on Sat :-)

scooby_doo_do
I'm quite scared at the idea of sanding down the car to the metal - as i'm pretty sure the paint's holding it together at the moment. But still, if i don't do it/try it now, i'm guessing it'll be worse off later. Any ideas the quickest way to get rid of the paint/primer down the bare metal? I was just going to sand it,but it's going to use a lot of sanding pads!
