scooby_doo_do
Yay, Can't wait. I've since found out some more information about it: Its a 1963 MK1 Humber Sceptre, that has a rover V8 Engine. "It was originally built by Dave Holt in the early 80`s and was featured in Street Machine magazine in October 1980. When it was first built it was a metalic gold colour then it was later repainted red with graphics down the side and featured a red Draylon interior. You should find that although the roof has been radically chopped the front screen is STILL the full size original, it has just been sunk into the front bodywork. The rear wings feature Escort bubble arches and the rear lights are from a Fiat 850. It always seemed to be very well built." I've since bought the magazine. Tommorrow it'll be going straight to the garage for a check up - then i'll start to take it apart and piece it back together again. Here's ome pics for peeps that haven't seen it. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/humber/

garethr
So what would you do? Leave it as it is... a little bit of hotrod history, or update it ... maybe lose the arches, slam it, change the wheels?

scooby_doo_do
Well first thing i'm doing is taking it to the garage to get checked over.. Once he''s ok'd it, i'll strip the brakes and shocks and replace all those. Then my cousin is going to strip the engine and rebuild it for me and make up the exhaust from the template thats in the car. then we need to find an interior that fits, find a roll cage and spray it ... sounds easy right.... ? colour thinking of Candy red with a black stripe. scooby_doo_do
Right, got it back home - still yet to start it as the battery was dead. Also that caused a problem as i couldn't get in becuase the doors open via remote so i had to go through the sunroof. Needs a lot more work than i first thought, but doesn't look that difficult. The main problem is that i think it's going to need lots of welding\bodywork so i need to find someone to do that. Here's all the pics of it originally (in the magazine) and the pics of it at the rear of the house. http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum1.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum3.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum4.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum5.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum6.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum7.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum8.jpg http://www.tripkings.co.uk/images/hum9.jpg
scooby_doo_do
On picture 7 you'll see the engine - any idea what the 4 metal twisty things are on the rocker covers? They seem to be holding it on. there's 4 on each side.
spackrackman
Very nice car, how much did you pay for it? also I have an old Humber Scepter in my shed, Its not mine but I know he only bought the vehicle for the floor pans, so if there are any bits your may need I can ask the chap. scooby_doo_do
Thats excellent... I only paid £800 for it, so not exactly breaking the bank. I don't know if its worth that but i really like it so what the hell.. Parts are always good :-) I need an interior to start with and some various other bits and bobs - Not sure if the standard front seats will fit. I'm just phoning around first to see if i can get a car restorer to do the bodywork/welding on it and once i can get a price on all that i'll start to have a play with the other stuff. Thanks.
