going to pick up a car tomorrow, but it has no tax & no mot,

the seller said he will give me his trade plate number to drive the car back down to London to get taxed/mot'd - he said it is then perfectly legal to drive...... is this correct?

cheers.....

Trade plates can be used by anyone that the plate owner allows to use them i.e employees, but there needs to be a written record or register with the details of who is using them and what dates & which vehicle

They need to be properly displayed on the front and back of the car, not in the windows.

The car is not to be left on the highway unattended with trade plates.

No personal journey should be made with trade plates (other than the original transportation journey) i.e. to go shopping etc

The car still needs to be insured.

Good luck!
