Life without the tinternet sucks :(

Just thought I would pop on the forum at work as I will be without the internet for about 3-4 weeks at home :(

Decided to swap to Sky Broadband as it is so cheap but I cannot migrate, so I have been disconnected and now need to wait upto 20 working days to get reconnected.

To make matters worse my Xbox 360 broke a few days ago, so that is off too be repaired and won't be back for 3 weeks :(

This really hacks me off as I was about to buy Test Drive Unlimited.

On the bright side though my car should be arriving 1 week from now, and then Jurgen is going to try and get it ready for the 30th September for me to pickup (although this is optimistic).

So soon I will have my TT :D , can't wait for it, and I hope the weather is dry once I do get it.

I wanted to go over to sky but have had the same problem :( i am with tiscali and they are not able to migrate my account either! problem is others in my family use the internet a lot and we can't really be without it for 20 days it's a right pain in the ar*se! The sky one seems to be much better value for money.

I was with Tiscali a few years back and had a terrible time with them. I found their service to be total crap and the customer support useless. I have one suggestion for you if you do want to leave. Phone Tiscali and ask them what date you would be disconnected on if you were to leave them now? They will probably do it after your next billing date. If you time it just right you can get a disconnection date and then phone Sky up when you are 20 working days from disconnection. This way you can minimise the amount of time you are offline.

I wish I had done it this way but I assumed (incorrectly) that I had to be disconnected before I could sign up with Sky.

I hope this helps

Cheers I will look into it over the weekend:thumbs:

I have had a nightmare with tiscali to  I am on my second modem and I have to fight with it to get it to connect most nights, and then it drops out all the time!

One other thing sky mentioned was that it's only worth getting the max 16mb package if you line can take this speed because a lot of the UK can't get much above 5 meg apparently! But BT can check this for you before you sign up.

Unlucky mate - i'm thinking of switching over to Sky broadband myself - i'm currently with Plusnet but their 2GB cap is a joke.

What happened to your 360? Mines currently dead too.

Not another one, Ive heard of a few people now with dead 360's.

Last week it just started freezing whilst in games and then started showing 3 red lights. After that I couldn't even get into a game. Should be going back today as UPS didn't bother picking it up yesterday. I have to say that its pretty poor for a 8 month old console to break like this.

What happened to yours?

Exactly the same thing here too mate. Started freezing occasionally and got worse - now it just doesn't do anything.

Apparently they aren't replacing them with new ones anymore, but replacing with refurbished ones. Not sure what warranty you get though. I rang this afternoon at 4:30. Had to wait about 10 mins for someone to talk to. They took me through a load of trouble shooting first, then admitted defeat and said they'd sort it under warranty.
