Paul R
Hi, Driving to Wolverhampton today and I noticed that my car felt hesitant. Kind of like when the traction control has switched on - feels like the car is being held back. I tried putting my foot to the floor a few times and the boost guage was showing 0.7 bar for the first turbo and 0.9-1 when the second turbo came online at upto 80 leptons. The car seemed to be having trouble to get to 7k revs though. I then got onto the motorway and tried flooring it at about 100 leptons. It seemed to take 2 - 3 seconds for the boost to reach 0.9 bar, then it fluctuated between 0.9 and 0.8 bar until I let my foot off the pedal. The acceleration felt juddery too. I only changed the plugs about 1000 miles ago....could it be them again? I only put cheap NGK ones in. I hope it's not the turbo's Any advice? Paul. Paul R
Hi, I've just checked all the intercooler pipes and they all look like they have a good seal..... next idea? Paul.
Dragonball
After pipes.... Sounds like plugs if hesitant like that!
Paul R
Is it common for a supra TT to eat plugs after 1k miles though? Even if they are cheap ones? Paul.
Dragonball
If they are the wrong ones - very possibly! Sounds like you are driving it hard m8 - you probably need cooler plugs! Anyway - cant hurt - Terry S had some available for good price

Get some HKS or Densos in there NOW! Ben..
Soonto_HAS_soop
Just remembered, try Alex Holydroyd (excuse the spelling Alex:thumbs: ) he tends to have a few sets of Densos going, either that or one of the suppliers on here will surely be able to help you out mate! scooby_doo_do
Paul, Move the mat away from under the accelerator...... The peddle goes that little bit further You'll know if your turbo's have gone... As like mine and lots of others... You'll see lots of ...smoke.. I was running 1.3 bar on the standard turbo's when mine went... Just noticed lots of smoke everytime i came to a stop.. I had 2 fins left on 1 turbo and 3 left on the other - and that didn't move! - And to beat it all i didn't notice it at all until the smoke appeared.. So i wouldn't panic yet... I had iridium plugs in the car in the first place, they were causing similar problems. I'll get some more plugs tomorrow and fit them....see if that helps. Which iridium plugs are good for the supra? (not too expensive) Paul.

Spardz
ive had this happen to me before, put your foot down and it took a few secs for it to go anywhere, check all vacumn hoses, that fixed it in my case. Mark

Ian C
There is a remarkable amount of places boost can leak from -Ian
Paul R
I'll try the plugs first. I have checked all the hoses over and over....cant see any leaks what so ever. I'm convinced it's the plugs as there is some judder on acceleration and a bit of popping...... Paul.

michael
Paul, did you get a warranty with the car? Seems to me you've spent a lot of money on a car that hasn't been 100% from day one yet you seem to be the one who is stuck with trying to sort it all out - can't the supplier take it in and give it back when it's all sorted at their expense? Or was it a 'sold as seen' thing? It seems odd that it could be plugs so soon after replacement and equally strange that it was plugs last time - something is obviously fouling them far quicker than it should be - take a couple out and have a look at the ends, take a photo of them and post up here for diagnosis. There are a lot of hoses that can leak and even more worryingly there are a few that seem prone to split with age - I had the turbos replaced last week and they found a sneaky one in a hard to find part of the engine bay that has a small crack in it! Can you hear any air excaping when the engine is running? Is the air filter clean? Fuel filter fairly new? What fuel are you using etc etc.... Paul R
Mike, I think that it's unlikely that any hoses are brittle in the engine bay (admitedly not impossible) I have a very low mileage car 33,000 miles - all the hoses seem to be nice and supple still and not brittle at all. Even the breather hoses between the cams are soft and supple. I've checked as many hoses as I can...cant see any leaks...cant hear any air leaking when the engine is going.. The air filter was oiled about 4 months ago. Dont know how new the fuel filter is and I run optimax all the time. I'll get the plugs out tonight and post pics........ Paul.
