supra sam
I had my e-bay account hijacked last week! , luckily I caught it in time and eBay sorted it before it got out of hand. watch out for spoof emails telling you that you haven’t paid for something this is what got me, the link in the email takes you to the eBay log in page and I guess this is how they get your details, apparently this is getting more and more common. Because of this I have had to change pretty much all my online passwords so watch out!

garetheves
Yup ive had this loads and its really beginning to pi$$ me off. Have mailed eBay loads about it but all i get is the usual automatic reply of "thankyou for your enquiry blah blah bollox". the other thing thats really annoying me with bay at the moment is trying to sell me phone. I must have listed it well over 20 times now and every time a scammer has bought it and tried to pay with a hacked account. I have even put in the advert that i will not accept paypal but i still have the buyers sending me fake Paypal emails saying that the money is waiting and will be credited to my account when i send the item. Its so frustrating. Just gonna give up selling my phone i think, unless anyone knows of anywhere else (apart from here as i had no luck here) that you can sell stuff. supra sam
Ebay also tell me that all e-mails from them will contain your eBay user name where as the spoof ones don't.
Elliot
Ebay also tell me that all e-mails from them will contain your eBay user name where as the spoof ones don't. Many of the spoof ones do include your username, but not your REAL name. Even spoof e-mails can use your real name as well. Easiest way is to not follow links through e-mails, just type the website in yourself.
carl0s
the one that is real starts with https:// but any doggy ones dont have the S in the end and are http:// or always look for the LOCK sign in the right side buttom on the screen as that means safe to use. and thats all I know about internet really There's no reason why spoof sites couldn't be hosted on secure servers either, although there might be some audit trail involved in registering the certificates etc.
MrRalphMan
I'm getting a lot of these also. Any mail that comes to you from Ebay will also be in your messages within Ebay itself. That's the best way to find out if it's real. Never never open Ebay from a link, you never know where it's going these days.
