Guest rich_N_Supra
Any ideas as to what this may be.. Driving along, & revved the car hard out of gear up to near the limiter and all of a sudden loud bang (then a sound like an exhause joint blowing) and vibration, sounds like exhaust blowing as you accelerate, but also there is the sound of something flicking around, occasionally. engine runs fine, clutch and transmission work, noise if from the engine not transmission car drives fine except for this vibration over 2500rpm, although, after returning from margate (50+miles) vibration and noise reduced? not used the car since, but any ideas as to what i've broken? I'm thinking engine mounting, but if anyone else has an idea?
Darren
Hi there! What model Supra is it? Was the car fully warmed up before you redlined it??
Guest rich_N_Supra
It's a mark 4 with the 3.0l n/a engine.. Defiantely fully warmed up, it had been running for about 2-3 hours before it was red lined..
LeeT
out of interest but why did you feel the need to redline the car in neutral? Its not good for the engine at all. Lets hope you haven't done any serious damage

pistonbroke
check all you pulleys mate, especially the crank pulley as its a known weak spot. If its hanging off, it'll unbalance the engine and cause vibration and noise.

Gaz6002
Just had a brand new pulley fitted.. to it, and yes it is tight.. Reason for redlining, wel show off n drifting.. How does red-lining out of gear help drifting?
Guest rich_N_Supra
just so you know, the clutch cover plate had completely broken up, so that's what the problem with the car was.. Just to clarify, the red line out of gear, was me with the clutch down, in gear but not with the engine driving the wheels, so hence out of gear, halfway through a drift..
