Gazboy
Has anyone got any idea how much a JDM CTR engine would cost from Japan? Either new or reconditioned? How would it compare to a UK new/recon CTR engine pricewise?

I'm sure the guy who did a 'port and polish' with builders sand while the S2k was still running killed his engine...

I'm sure the guy who did a 'port and polish' with builders sand while the S2k was still running killed his engine... I was just writing the same thing.... However they have never had an engine fail because of the Vtec system or had a Vtec mechanism fail. I used to own a civic Type R and used to belong to the Type R forum i remember (2 years back now) that the engine to buy new is like £6k or something. 2nd hand i would expect to pay between £1500-2000 Go to http://civictype-r.co.uk/phpbb2/index.php if you want to find out properly

imi
havent the s2000's got a problem with some of their engines. i heard a rumour about them. really...that would be a shame cause its a brilliant engine.....for track. no low down torque so youre always revving the damn thing which gets tiring after a little while. grahamc
a turbo can generally solve that sort of problem...
Getrag
Asked a mate who works for Honda. You cant buy honda engines complete from Honda buy you can but Spoon CTR engines and I'll let you know that price soon.
Guest dee_rz
i had two ctr's one of which was tuned to 326.6 bhp, the engine can be brought from around £2500-3000 with ecu loom and gearbox in uk i could sorce you one if you like, i did for someone else before, as for a jdm version which unlike the uk spec has a lsd you'll be looking at a fair bit more and in my opinion not worth it, go for a uk k20 and buy a quaife atb lsd like i did just under £1000 but well worth it and good for 800bhp gearbox in the ctr is very good also soem say 600bhpish engine needs inturnal work after 350bhp really, the jdm engine also has slightly lairer cams too. Gazboy
Cheers Getrag & Dee- I'll pass on your posts to my mate who'se after the engine. Re the S2k's lack of torque- I can't think of many 2.0NA's that have higher torque- 153lbs/ft vs a clio 182's 148lbs/ft- and the clio is never criticised for it's torque. Difference is the Clio probably has more useable torque than the S as the S only really generates a lot when its in vtec zone... and when its out it is gutless. Jezz
I usually sell the engine, box, shafts, ecu and loom for £2000. Thats warrantied as well. I supply guy chamberlain at cpl with the conversion, for the lotus elise and ariel atom. So if i do get them, they rarely go to anyone else.
