RedM
If you could afford to live in one, would you? A walled area of housing with controlled access and regular security patrols. I think I would. I like the idea of not having people walking by who had no business there.

penguin
If there is a gardener like the one from Desperate Housewives yes, if not, no. so your gonna buy a house just for the gardener?
JustGav
Have done in the past... It isn't all it is cracked up to be.... does have the advantage that you have a better chance of your stuff being okay... but does feel a little too constricting at times as well... I'd be 50/50... purely because the nutters that are about and around near the kids on the odd occasion, but that is what 'care in the community' amounts to..doesn't it... chilli
not sure I would tbh. I'd rather just have a nice detatched house with some grounds and security
Charlotte
so your gonna buy a house just for the gardener? People buy houses based on the gardens, why not the gardener? In all seriousness I'm not sure on the gated community thing. I'm not very social, I suppose because we've always had horrible neighbours. And growing up we always lived in a close/cul-de-sac and everyone knew everything about everyone and I don't like that. Anonymous living is where it's at. SupraAyf
If you could afford to live in one, would you? Yes – sounds good indeed. A few rules to boot though: 1. Only blonde woman 2. Everyone has a Supe ONLY! 3. Minimum income is 6 figures 4. 1 pool per house. 5. and everyone gets to vote who you allow in to the compound!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thorin
Nope, the people seem too weird. Saw some program on gated communitys a while ago, and they all seemed like inbred yokel weirdo's. Rich inbred yokel weirdo's though.
michael
You'd still have neighbours and the security people wandering around, I'd rather have a castle with it's own walls, a moat, big gates and gargoyles. Oh and it would have to be in the middle of nowhere, ideally next to the sea.
RedM
I used to fantasise about living in my own skyscraper. I would have the top 3 floors and the rest would be empty and unreachable. They'd be one entrance with elaborate access opening onto an atrium. A lift would descend and you'd drive into it and it'd take you up to the parking level. There'd be literally no way up unless you knew how to activate the lift. Of course, you'd need to be stupidly rich so emergency evacuation would be done in a helicopter. I was a lonely child.
