You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that! :D

At least this little episode has given me an excuse to get several bits done that I've been intending for ages - replaced the thermostat with a TRD one, relocating the battery to the boot (install coming soon), ripped out the carbon canister thingy, decatted, and new fmic on the way :)

Just a little update ('cos I'm feeling proud with myself at the moment! :D ).

The turbos are all on now and everything torqued up underneath; the fmic is fitted too. I even took the manifold off and copper-greased every nut and bolt when I replaced them, so that going single in the new year won't entail quite as much grunting and swearing for the guys over at Turbofit :) All new gaskets etc. thanks to the ebay head kit I've had lying round for a year or so!

Just got to move the PAS cooler now, then remove the inlet manifold and throttle body (to replace with GeodieSteve's polished ones :D ), refit the bumper and headlights, fit the new brake discs, calipers and pads, fit the boost controller and decat, and FINALLY she'll be back on the road :D

  • 4 weeks later...

Another update, 'cos I'm happy with myself :)

I've now installed my Mocal oil cooler (115mm, 10row) for the power steering, and made up the brackets myself from some aluminium angle. It's taken me this long as Demon Tweeks claimed a 7 day lead time on the coolers - 2 weeks after ordering, I phoned to see where it was only to be told it'd be another 2 weeks 'cos Mocal were struggling to keep up with demand

A quick call to ThinkAuto, and I had one sat in my living room the next day :D

The 1st decat is back in place with the wideband flange welded on and the oil filter and spark plugs are all changed and ready to go. All I need to do now is replace the fuel filter, fill her up with fluids and the engine should be able to purr for the first time in 2 months :D

Looks like I'll have to leave the installation of the polished manifold and TB as MkivStore still haven't sent it yet

Just one small thing to get before then though. Typically, I've gone and bloody lost the larger diameter rubber hose between the cam covers. Which means another day while Toyota get it in stock :(

Ah well, getting closer. Got the front springs done too, so just the rears to do before she's driveable again :)
