aeropete
i wanted to change the water in me supe, so i drained the rad using the white tap located at the bottom to the right, i let it drain for about 10mins. i then put in 3litres of antifreeze, then when i went to put the water in i could only get about half a pint in? i left the cap off and started the car up, a few bubbles appeared but the water level hardly dropped?then in about 3mins the water started to boil? could there still be a airlock? the fat hose at the top is red hot and the fat hose at the bottom is still cold, is this right? Dave
isnt it better to remove the bottom hose to drain all the water out. does sound like you have an air lock will have a look in my manual see if theres a bleed valve
Jim_1979
In a supra... I don't know mate!! Only had the car about a month. In my old Mr2 turbo tho, there were certain points you would bleed it from...... but I'm not very good with cars... lol.
SimonB
To drain the coolant system fully you need to also use the second drain plug which is on the exhaust side of the engine.
uk-rich
when filling up, i found its better to have the front of the car jacked up very high, this allows the coolant to flow back into the engine via the top rad pipe i also found that giving the top pipe some serious squeezage helps to get more air out
