silvershark44
I have a jap tt auto I was taking the car out for a spin last night, and after a couple of hours driving had accellerated hard with overdrive on from a rolling start of about 40mph. When i reached 120 leps, i suddenly had a complete loss of pwer, the revs jumped right up and hit the rev counter. Basically it seemed like it wouldnt hit the final gear. I have never had this before. I got no error lights or anything thing like tht and it has driven fine since then, not tested at that speed again though. Should i be worried or do you think this will be a one off??

Whitesupraboy2
120mph (including speedo being out) is about the speed where the limiter is. I.e 112mph. So maybe your delimiter is playing up, do you know what delimiter youve got?
silvershark44
No its not that, i had taken it to well over 150 prior to this. It was as if it didnt go into the final gear and went into neutral instead instead. It was like major clutch slip,
Darren-K
slipped out of gear ? it does happen.
silvershark44
yeah but even on an auto??? im not worried if it is a characteristic, but im an absolute perfectionist. If there is something slightly wrong with the car, it mortifies me. So it really can happen to a perfectly fuctioning auto box occasionally??? If so then i can accept that, but it means something more serious, i would like to know

chilli
isn't it 'brake bands' or something that can give up and slip in an auto? not sure if the supra auto box even has them (I know nothing about this box) but seem to remember brake bands in autos, like mini clutch/brake
