matt
Can anybody tell me the difference between a CatC and CatD insurance write of please?? Also opinions on how these will affect re-sale ? I would imagine they should be cheaper than non repaired cars, but how much? I rang to go and see a GTR and was then told that the car had been subject to a Cat D write off 4 years ago...... Now the car was advertised as low mileage and excon. Apparently it is ...but with the Cat D.. It is still cheapish and I'm going to have a look as its local, so I'll see if it has been repaired properly TIA
toyotasuprauk
Basically: Category C A vehicle where the repairs are assessed by the inspecting engineer as exceeding the pre-accident market value. Category D A vehicle the repairs to which are assessed by the inspecting engineer as not exceeding the pre-accident market value. These 2 are often not too bad and can go back on the road, really bad damage is: Category A A vehicle so badly damaged, destroyed or deformed that it has no major salvageable parts Category B A vehicle damaged beyond economical repair that cannot be safely repaired. An end of life type vehicle that may be used as a donor for "Ringing" should it not be broken and the shell crushed.
