JustGav
Yeah, it is safe... All depends on how much you plan on using... single injection, multi port... Progressive or straight in.... A lot of questions really... And budget...

JustGav
Guys, If you are going to do it, it is by far the cheapest bang for buck....BUT don't be silly and think a 200 shot can be fired straight in without taking the head off.... Anything over a 75.... I would suggest a progressive controller, which is not only safer but will also make it more driveable. Something like a twisted sanity controller is perfect for the job, however the solenoids you use for the delivery need to be capable of being driven by a progressive system. SupraHuman
I ran NOS is my NA for two years. If your engine is bone stock then I would not exceed a 50 shot without a controller. That's a dry shot mind.

toyotasuprauk
What about insurance, no company will touch you with NOS or would you not tell them. Also dont think the bottles last very long?

Bob
I've got most of a Wizards of Nos kit sat in my garage - can't decide whether to use it or not It's got the Minimax progressive controller, solenoids and 2 5Ib polished bottles - which I thought may look kinda funky in the up-and-coming-sooner-or-later-probably-later install. Bob
What about insurance, no company will touch you with NOS or would you not tell them. Also dont think the bottles last very long? Actually, if it's a professionally installed / checked system, insurers such as Greenlight and Adrian Flux are happy enough to insure it; i believe that more specialist insurers are starting to realise it's not the risk that it's been made out to be. JustGav
isnt it illegal to have it on the road ? Perhaps... but that is why the car gods invented remote bottle openers......
Dave
went to my local jap tuner garage and they quoted me 1400 for a fully fitted kit with a controller and an extra fuel pump to spray in fuel mix with the nos thatwas for 100 bhp extra and it only worked on full throttle no "go baby go" button thought it was a bit pricey as to buy the bits works out about 600 squid seems easy to fit in a weekend dont tell INS CO as you can pull it out in a jiify

JustGav
Be careful ordering any kits from the US... Some places will refuse to refill a bottle which isn't EU approved (kite mark or something)..

Clarkey
I think the Nitrous refils are pricey. I remember hearing £50 for an 11 Ibs refil. And I think continuous use .. I've heard 2-3 minutes bounded around. Of course, you wouldn't use the N2O all the time. I think tho, the progressive controller makes the N20 more smoother on the pistons as delivery of N20 corresponds to RPM. Which I've also heard it makes the usage of N20 more economical. With an uprated fuel pump you shouldn't need a seperate pump for fuel, that should be governed by the solenoids fed from a T off the fuel line. If you're giving it a 100bhp fixed hit in a fairly standard car then you'll probably lose traction, not to mention most of your engine internals. Nitrous is just like any other power-enhancing mod for cars - it takes knowledge and proper tuning to do it properly. After all, would you just bolt a single kit to your Supra and hoon around without getting it properly tuned? If anyone is serious about nitrous, then I can't recommend the Wizards of Nos board enough. :edit: Re-fills depend on the power you're using - expect 10-15+ minutes of continuous use on a 50 shot with an 11Ib bottle. For 2-3 minutes you'd have to be putting in some serious amount of nitrous! :edit 2: Dammit! All this nitrous talk has made me make up my mind to put it on the TT! You evil people! :edit 3: Progressive controllers are to minimise the effects of a sudden hit of nitrous - if it helps, think of it a bit like impact loading (getting past my techie threshold here!) They also save your traction either off the line or whilst moving. Ideally you should go progressive on anything 50bhp or over.
