DannyW
Do a hpi check on the car, if it's all clear then apply for the duplicate log book. Sorted.

keron
just give them the registration, tell them the situation and they will tell you what you need to know... alternatively fill in the v?? form from the post office, send £19 and should receive it that way.... actually, have you got the little green slip when you brought it....? you can fill that in and send it off to dvla then you will receive the log book that way free of change... DannyW
can you do it on jap cars?? The HPI check? of course you can, it'll only go back as far as when it was first registered in the UK, but at least you'll know it isn't stolen or a write-off etc.
