Could you amagine the forum under the control of one of the traders?? You think things are bad now! You'd only have to mutter the name of a rival trader and you'd get an infraction.

It'd be an empty one too:d As I said do you have the right to threaten members with selling their club to a trader?

would we all get a share of the final value it sold for if it does sell?

not share holders but i always thought its the members club and no-one actually owns it.
That's how we have always like to run this club yes, with everyone feeling it is their club and they all help to make it a good club. But how many other clubs/associations do you join and except to 'own' a part of it?

oh i didnt say anyone 'owned it' but just when speaking about selling it, i thought that it had no owner so it couldnt be sold. thats what i meant, i didnt mean to say i or anyone else owned the club.

I thought i would reply to this thread instead of it being a one sided discussion, because as we all know there are always two sides to a story. I've been a member here for about a year and a half, and worked hard to establish myself within this club by providing impartial and helpful advice to members. During this time I've had the usual light hearted banter, water off a ducks back most of the time. After 14 years in my job you become thick skinned. I offered to become a moderator to help Mawby and co and to lighten their load. Its a f*ckin horrible job. And it is that, a job, unpaid at that and totally thankless. I was the only mod on during the weekend.

HOW COMES CLASS-ONE done me for swearing then fella???? "EVERYONE" I CALLED HIM PIG-MAN BECAUSE OF HIS PICTURE,,,,,,he said i called him it because he is a fucking copper,,,to be really honest i couldn't give a flying fuck WHAT YOU ARE MATE,,,,,you behaved like a poxy chilled in my eyes!!

This arose out of a thread that Supra-Lover started about the PS3 and quickly descended into a heated discussion about the pros & cons of PS3 vs other formats. One member was putting across a pretty informative side to the argument because he works in the industry.

I'M ONLY A LORRY DRIVER THOUGH MATE!!!!!! THICK AS SHIT

I didn't actually say that. I pointed out that Marco worked in the industry, however I will admit that I came across as being condescending and I apologise for that. Driving for a living is hard, however i was trying to point out that Marco does know what he's on about.

I pm'd Supra-Lover when he posted up his "Pig Man" comment to clarify exactly what he meant. I did that because I didn't want to appear too hasty in any moderating decision. The first response from him was a load of question marks and "What you on about?"

I pm'd him back in simpler terms, and yes I warned him that if he was referring to my profession then I might consider banning him for 24 hours. I also said that we all like a laugh and a joke but reminded him that I was a mod. After all I wouldn't have considered taking the piss out of a mod unless there was some previous banter or I'd met him or her etc. Anyway I went offline until the morning, when I read his reply and accepted his answer. However, during the night, another member who had not even posted in the thread reported Supra-Lovers post. He felt that it was OTT, so as a result of his complaint, I edited Supra-Lovers post. This resulted in him receiving an automatically generated PM saying that his post had been edited and why. It was edited as in the words of the other member, not mine, it was disrespectful. Supra-Lover then decided to refer to it in the thread, and I decided to stick to my warning about disrespectful posting to ban him for 24 hours.

However, I feel that on reflection, I was too hasty in banning him and should have issued an infraction with enough points to put him in the region of a ban rather than banning him outright. I pointed out in the pm to him that he should use the time to reflect about how he posts.

I'd say by some of his comments he hasn't learnt his lesson.

I like Doug, he's a good guy. Is being called a pig that insulting for a copper?

Thanks Lee. despite the fact that i took a moderating desicion against you, you were at least man enough to make an apology for your drunken posting. It wasn't so much what you posted but how it came out of the blue! Points all gone no harm done.Being called a pig isn't that bad not really but sometimes its how it's said, or by whom. I'm used to the odd jibe here or there goes with the territory, but perhaps a relative newbie might be a bit more thoughtful before pressing send.

yeah he certainly sounds like a good guy....:rlol:

Like i said, I think I've made a valuable and worthwhile contribution to this club. I can't think of one member I've met, who would have a bad word to say about me personally.

tell you what mate give me my tenner back and i'll piss off???????

That's your choice.

I'm fed up with the mods on here and I've not been a member long,, there is some really quality people on this site, but the mods let it down:(

I would disagree here. They do a very difficult job. I'm still learning. We all make mistakes sometimes. What has really let this site down, is some of the ill considered and immature posting. This site is about enthusiasts for the mkiv Supra. Or anyway it used to be.

if it is then i'm not sure i'd have one as an avatar.......................

It was a tongue in cheek decision.

i am happy to be back, but I'd like to express the way i feel, and the way i have been treated,i am angry at the way he called me " JUST A LORRY DRIVER" as he hasn't got a clue what i do,I'm a A class printer and print finisher as well I'll have you know MR...i am very unhappy so we're just leave it at that...he can just stay out of my way,,, lovely:)

You see I'm quite prepared to state as I have already that I made a hasty decision and apologise to you for making you feel belittled because of your chosen profession. But I never said "just a lorry driver" you did.

There you go, must be a first. A mod admitting he made a mistake, and instead of going at it all guns blazing and being ott again, I've made my position perfectly clear. I considered resigning from the club because of this. But that would be giving in. So for now I'll stay, and I'll continue to moderate for as long as the moderating team will have me.
