Prof. Monkey
Poor fella. Always thought he would "buy it" with some venomous snake. Mind you, stingrays have a very potent toxin in thier barbs, used as a defence mechanism. RIP.

MrRalphMan
I might have taken the p1$$ about his over the top excited manner, but he was great TV and did some wonderful things to help animal conservation. Feel for his wife and kids.

ChrisSZ
Sad news indeed. A real character who was passionate about animals. Definately a loss to the conservation community. BTW - didn't know he was working with Gerry Anderson??
JustGav
He was a great animal lover and conservationist... He loved what he did, and I only wish I had some of the passion for what I do that he did..

SupraStar 3000
really sad to hear this Loved the way he would say: "This little beauty is one of the most venomous snakes in the WORLDDDD" for every snake he came across. RIP Steve

Gamer
Tragic, yes. Accident, no. Stingrays do not just come along and sting people. They have to be provoked and it is not just a case of gently touching them. The saying goes: If you play with fire you will get burnt at some point. Pete
It is sad - only 44, two kids - Bob and Bindy (!). It's not a complete surprise though given how up close and personal he got with some of wildlifes most dangerous creatures though. He'd been bitten and attacked a few times before but recovered. Play with fire, you're going to get burned. [edit] - HA ha - Joe, seems you agree with me about the fire!
Bobbeh
Its weird, I was glancing at his croc show on ITV yesterday and thinking about when he would be finally taken down by a big croc...and of all things it was a Stingray! Poor guy, he created and left a legacy thats for sure and died doing what he enjoyed doing at least.
andrew7
If only these guys could just stop at looking and not have to get "so close." Not so entertaining though.....and Steve WAS entertaining 10/10.... The South African guy on TV the other night is the same. He had to touch a King Cobra on the top of it's head, just, "because he always wanted to..."....
