d9988
I searched and could not find an answer to this --- I've read both (a)You can only use Greddy filters and (b)there are some other filters that will work with the kit as well. Does anybody have this kit? Can you use other brands as well? Mobil 1 filters? It would be a PITA to only be able to use expensive special order Greddy filters all the time. I do want an oil filter relocation kit to make it easier to change the oil, as well as so that I can easily hook up my oil pressure sensor. I have read about the Miami GT and one or two other brands on here but I don't think they have them in the USA.
SimonB
You can use whatever filter you like, including standard ones. It's a standard thread.
Daston
what is the advantage of reloctaing the oil filter??
d9988
You can use whatever filter you like, including standard ones. It's a standard thread. Is this correct? I've never seen info that said you can use ANY filter. It's always either you can only use Greddy or a few other brands. I would love to be able to use any filter. Can anybody else verify this? Daston: I want to be able to hook up my oil pressure gauge, which this allows. Plus the added benefit of having the oil filter in a more accessible location is nice. Stu Storm
Advantage is not getting oil all over the subframe etc when doing the change! A good place is behind one of the front wheel covers then it is a simple turn the wheel onto lock and unscrew! BTW I use PE filters but i got a "batch" of them, but the toyota one's are excellent as well!
d9988
Great thanks! I just ordered the kit. Where are some other convenient spots that you guys have relocated too?
Daston
are cool cheers guys I was looking at the Drift works oil cooler and couldnt work out why you would want to move the filter.
Ark
Not only do you spill oil everywhere, if it's screwed on really tight, you need about three elbows on each arm to maneuvre into a good postion to grip and twist... I was looking at the HKS kit - a cooler and filter re-locator, plus the mounting boss already has two sensor points to measure oil temp and pressure. d9988
Anyone else with teh Greddy kit have problems with leaking oil? I read a couple stories in other threads - I'm hoping this is not a real common thing with the Greddy relocation kit?

Yes, in a big way. although mine was the oil filter and cooler kit. i have removed the cooler pending being able to afford a new kit as that one had seen better days
Pabs
just a quick question guys - how much are people paying for the filter relocation kit, and does anyone have photos of where they've relocated it to? I've read that the Greddy ones are sh*te, and good ones seem about £150ish. Not sure about oil coolers yet, i just want to make it easier to service when i get the car. thanks

Pabs
ah cunning! Do you know what relocation kit that is? Oh, and thats not a stock "hole" in the side of the car is it... so I'd assume these would have to be on the car for this to work....

You dont need the holes in the wing as you can just remove the inner arch liner and unscrew from inside the wheelarch;)
