It turned freely a few turns and then it just stopped and wouldn't move at all. I replaced the fuel pipe running to the rear, the parts bloke at Toyota said it was common on Carina's. Some of them were over tightened in the factory resulting in the male union opening up in the fuel filter making them very difficult or impossible to remove.
