Gamer
fanboy:rlol: pc's are kak for games!!! Funny. PC and internet gaming enable me to live as I do and buy the things I need in life. That includes my Supra..... I make a living from providing services for internet gaming. Now 'Fanboy' that while you are moaning about only having £45 spare each week. Also my gaming system would blow any console out of the window with regards to performance, image quality and configurability. I run two graphics cards (even if I only use one of the cards it will be better then what any console can offer at the moment). Not that any of this really matters at the moment because I do not see you running out too far to get either unless you have some credit available. That's nice, but bragging about having a high paid job doesn't stop the fact that PCs are cack for games now does it! Just because you set up PCs for internet gaming doesn't make them better than when Sony sets up a system for gaming!! PCs are for working on, that's what they were designed for, they're more powerful because they have more things to do, but essentially they've been modified to play games in the last few decades - the principles are the same. Games consoles are for gaming alone, and are now being modified for internet access etc. Consoles are just easier to use than PCs when playing games, and the difference is negligible compared to the cost! I beg to differ. I have no problem finding games that I like to play on the PC. You cannot discount the popularity of such games as Counter strike (and the whole Half-life series), WOW, Doom, Quake, the list goes on and on. Also consoles get their technology and ideas directly from PC hardware and development. So, yes when bloated Sony set up a console they have PCs to thank for doing all the leg work. Gaming has it's roots in computer development and PCs. Consoles are easier to use because it is just an idiot box. Stick the disc in and off you go. If that is what you want then go for it but I grew out of that back when Atari was flogging consoles.
tbourner
Yeah I don't want the hassle of PC when I just want to sit down with my mates and have a laugh, I'd rather just 'Stick the disc in and off you go'. Grab a few beers and turn on the 'idiot box' Maybe if I was sad and lonely I'd sit in front of my PC playing games, but I just don't see the fun in it. I am, of course, saying this from my side of the fence. Having only delighted in 'Total Annihilation' on the PC, and maybe a bit of 'Big Mutha Truckers' ( ), I'm not in a good place to compare. If you want to give me your PC for a few months I'd be in a better position?

I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

I remember the weekend long Lan parties my brother and I helped host back in 2001 with around 150 people attending from all over the country, there deffo is a social side to it! Even more so this day and age. All consoles have done is put a different form of online play into the living room instead of the bedroom! Gamer, you actually any good at any of those games? Gamer
Gamer, you actually any good at any of those games? I can still hang with the big boys. Gamer
Theres me Thinking that most games are created on a PC and coded over to suit the consoles or have I got that wrong ? It used to be like that Mig. Now quite a lot of the console games are being created just for that platform. For developers it is easier to make games for the consoles. Main reason being the specs are the same for each machine. Whereas with PC games they have to work with a broader audience with regards to hardware/software configurations. What I like about the PC games is if you do have a high spec machine you can really turn up the visual options and get the full impact of the game the way the developer intended. Marco
All games are coded on PC's, but compiled into the console platform. Also all graphics are made on PC's. When I make a track for example it only takes about 2 minutes to export from the PC to a Playstation2. It's not a normal PS2 as you can buy in the shops, they're a bit chunkier See picture... raymanuk
How can you say the Xbox 360 is better than a PS3 when there is no PS3 on release to compare? We have a ps3 at work but no facia just a metal shell and not being used as a games console, but for R&D. The ps3 has now been delayed till March 07 Linky Here is a report that was done while the PS3 was shipped to developers. Make your own minds up from it but it looks promising. Report PC gaming is much better than console gaming, end of story. Consoles are just plug and play. PC you can do so much more but you don't need to hear that from me. Ask any hardcore PC gamer. They would rather have a pc over a console any day and I would too if I had to choose. I only play console games as there are titles that you can't get for the pc, wel used to be. Getting easier now. Plus PC's keep up to date with technology better than on a console. Xbox360 IMHO is not worth it. The PS3 well I will hold judgement till it comes out. I like that the PS3 can play cd, dvd, sacd and Blueray as standard. I am not going to say that the PS3 is going to be an Xbox360 killer but I do believe it will be marginally better than the 360 as an overall console package with more potential as the games come out. However the motion movement planned forthe PS3 already offers a better advantage over the 360 as this will be the new/future dimension in gaming. I therfore won't be moving the controller around for no reason
