thought about it but the cash was at home:(

i have a feeling tomorrow will be a better day:d

I am certain it will be. I had a little journey to Newbury this afternoon and took Rose with me. She commented on how nice it was to get back into a fast Supra again. :)

There were no displays, nothing flew all day. It took us just over 5 hours to get there, and I'm only just over 50 miles away! Must say the organisation was pretty poor, they must have known nothing was going to fly quite early but they didn't cancel it until really late. There was bugger all to do there either, and they're going to have to sort the traffic management out for next year or restrict the number of cars more, it was ridiculous.

They knew the day before that they were not going to be able to fly.

They did not need Michael Fish to tell them that. I watched the programme and they even said that the races could not be held because of the weather! Barstewards.

Thank you for your recent e-mail and for your valuable feedback on the Red

Bull Air Race at Longleat.

While the great British weather played a key role in the overall

experience, we acknowledge there were problems with vehicle and foot

traffic on and off site. A full investigation is underway with all parties

involved to ensure we improve the event experience in the future.

Like you, we are extremely disappointed that the event was cancelled but

unfortunately, the strong winds on the day meant that it was unsafe for the

pilots to fly. You may be aware that the safety requirements for our Air

Race pilots to fly and compete safely are threefold. If cloud cover lies

below 1,500 feet, the winds are greater than 55kph or the rain is heavy,

hampering visibility, then our pilots are unable to fly, which applies to

both our racing pilots and our show pilots such as the Matadors and the

Blue Eagles. We received a number of positive weather reports in the days

preceding the event and during Saturday afternoon which indicated the winds

would subside, so we held off for as long as possible in the hope of

postponing the action rather than cancelling completely, but by 4.30pm it

became clear that the fierce winds were not going to drop.

Regarding your traffic problems, we employed an experienced external

traffic management agency which comprised of 90 staff and 13 management.

Traffic management plans were approved in advance by the police, local

council and health and safety. In addition our traffic management

directions began on a 30 mile perimeter outside Longleat. Unfortunately,

three accidents on the A362 and the A350 and bad weather conditions

resulted in diversions and added delays. Moreover, the on-going uncertainly

regarding the weather conditions also meant that some members of the public

were exiting the venue whilst others were trying to enter this

exacerbated the traffic situation.

We ran a very successfull event last year and in consulation with our

traffic management team, Longleat and all local authorities we are

confident that an event of this size can very easily be staged at this

great venue again.

Yours sincerely,

Red Bull Air Race Team
