Help with wheels

None of those wheels are available wider than 8"

Apart from the OZ Superleggera (pic4) which is available upto 9" wide.

The standard fitment for Toyota Supra 16" wheels is 8x16 and 9x16 and standard fitment for 17" wheels is 8x17 and 9.5x17.

By fitting anything less than the standard fitment, you are in effect downgrading and compromising safety and handling.

It is also strongly recommended to keep the fitment staggered.

Most people when upgrading to new wheels will choose 9" front and 10" rear, unfortunately you are very limited to choice of wheel when on a budget of £1500inc tyres. as wheel prices (most manufacturers) dramatically increase in price when choosing anything above 8.5" wide.

If you require any further information of wheels which are suitable, please contact me [email protected]

Well in that case i need to look elsewhere! Thanks for your input.

The £1500 is wheels not including tyres.

Dont think the ones i have are staggered there toora platinum 5s (with big dent and only 17").

Unfortunatly i dont think theres anywhere around cambridge where i could check any out first hand.

Time to play with Photo Shop.

I'll put up my results!

You might be better putting some stock wheels on until some decent second-hand alloys come up for sale.

Running 8" back and front is dangerous, although some shops seem willing to sell them :(

I got my s/h Lexus alloys, with tyres, for less than half of your budget.

Can someone explain to me why exactly 9" wide wheels are so ready condemned?

100' s of stock sup's came with 16 x 9" so where's the problem. Far more important has got to be the rubber you put on them?

Plus if your that bothered there's no problem putting a 255 tyre on a 9" rim is there? which brings you back to stock 17 widths.

Ok if the wheels are made in bigger sizes then it makes some sense for higher BHP cars and for asthetics etc but i don't think running 8 and 9's would be a problem............

275's are as wide as you can go on a 9" rim. 255/45 might be better.

Scooter - I don't see a problem with 9" rears, expecially on an N/A. My TT had them when I bought it and they were ok, but once I started upping the power they were a bit skinny...

Womble - Sorry, I won't mention the 'L' word again. I haven't even got them on yet, my supra is off the road being messed with. I should have lent them you for a while :p
