SupraStar 3000
Some people are calling the Lexus LF-A the "new Supra". With a report to day that Toyotas factory in Derbyshire are matching their japanese counterparts in production and making profit they might now start manufacturing Lexus cars too, so its also feasible that the LF-A could be made here in the UK WOOHOO! Bobbeh
I dont think so. The flasgship lexus will only be built in Japan. I can see mass produced IS models being built here though.
SupraStar 3000
yea, I suppose your right!
Bobbeh
TBH I think the fact that Toyota are using Derby to build any Lexus model is a sign that its a quality plant. All the top end ones will no doubt be built in Japan for pride and reputation more than any economical reasoning. IMO anyway
Snooze
Some people are calling the Lexus LF-A the "new Supra". Nice car, hopefully, but not like a Supra to me - it's mid-engined and only a 2-seater, isn't it?
Bobbeh
The IS500 sounds more promising (with regard to seeing the spec of any likely Supra coming out may compare with)
D8MOA
ive been to the derby factory which was brill to see, about quailty thay would never build a lexus in the uk NEVER! as the uk build quailty is shit compared to japan! i spoke to lexus area manager dave hall the other day and he said he hasnt heard of the new supra being built, apprantly the new supra will be built end of next year same time as the LF-A, i recon there both the same car!!! the LF-A will be coming out but who really knows what it will look like? i dont and i bl**dy work for lexus
Jezz
To stray from the lexus a touch.....i have a friend that works at the Toyota parts distribution plant at magna park in Lutterworth. They ship parts including 'prototypes' to plants in Japan and worldwide........guess where this is going. MKV anyone? Not that i'll believe a word of it until i see it, but apparently Auto salon 2008 will be the big reveal.
Pete
Have you all seen Autocar this week? LF-A on the front cover and details of a hybrid version.

Pete
Someone said it would be 2007, but I doubt that "Next Autumn" according to Autocar.
Bobbeh
They've been speculating for years m8.. there is no more evidence to suggest Toyota is making a MKV.
Pete
They've been speculating for years m8.. there is no more evidence to suggest Toyota is making a MKV. Sorry - I didn't realise we were talking about the MkV - I meant the LF-A. I didn't read Jezzabels post.
Bobbeh
Oh yeah, the LF-A is a cert Just a shame the engine layout chosen for it seems to have changed! Wheres that fantastic 5.0 V10 gone It will be interesting to see how the model to be released differs from the concept I saw last spring:
